Eligibility Criteria

A Candidate for admission to the Three-year degree course in Agricultural must have passed the Intermediate examination with Tamil Nadu Board of Secondary Education with Mathematics/Biology, Physics and Chemistry as Compulsory subjects, or any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent there to.

Admission Guidelines

  1. There will be a COMMON ENTRANCE EXAMINATION for selection of the candidates for admission into B.Sc. (Ag).
  2. The candidates for admission will be selected only on the basis of Merit (Weighted Score) which is based on his/her performance of academic career, Entrance Examination and Extracurricular activities.
  3.  If two or more candidates secure the same computed score, the tie shall be resolved and their merit positions will be decided on the basis of higher marks in the Entrance Examination or +2 Science or HSC/equivalent in that order.

Course Details

OUAT provides the undergraduate programs not only in the field of Agriculture, but in the fields of Home Science, Horticulture, Basic Science, Veterinary, and Fisheries as well.

The selection for these courses are based on the merit score of 10th/HSC, 10+2 or equivalent examination, and the score obtained in the common entrance exam conducted by the university.

The candidates looking for the admission in the UG courses need to have the following qualifications:

B.Sc. Home Science 10+2 with minimum 50% in PCM or PCB
B.Sc. Horticulture 10+2 with minimum 50% in PCM or PCB
B.Sc. Forestry 10+2 with minimum 50% in PCM or PCB
B.F.Sc. 10+2 with minimum 50% in PCB
B.V.Sc. and A.H. 10+2 with minimum 50% in PCB
B.Tech. Agricultural Engineering 10+2 with minimum 50% in PCM

Selection Criteria

OUAT conducts a common entrance test to select the candidates for the UG courses. The test is composed of 200 multiple choice questions from the following subjects:

  • Physics – 66 Marks
  • Chemistry – 66 Marks
  • Mathematics/Biology – 68 Marks

Weightage for the candidate selection is calculated as follows:

Note: The candidates applying for B.Sc. (Forestry) need to qualify in the Physical Endurance Test as well and must provide a Physical Fitness Certificate issued by a Medical Officer.
