The closing date of regular registration is September 29, 2023. Along with that, the deadline for extended online registration or application process (with late fee) is 13th October, 2023.Furthermore, GATE 2024 tentative exam dates have been announced. GATE 2024 entrance exam is expected to be held in the month of February. The exam dates for GATE 2024 is on February 3,4,10 & 11. 

NIT Calicut MTech is a 2 year PG program offered in 24 different specialisations. NIT Calicut allows MTech admission based on the score secured in the GATE exam and CCMT counselling. NIT Calicut MTech cutoff in overall for the year 2023 ranges from 350-622 for the general category.

NIT Calicut offers MTech admission to the candidates securing 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in their BTech degree and 55% marks for SC/ST/PwD category. The institute also provides lateral entry to the students who have passed 3-year diploma degree in Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks. GATE qualified candidates can apply for the NIT Calicut MTech program and further register for CCMT counselling. However, the final selection is made on the basis of personal interview round.

NIT Calicut MTech Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates for admission to M. Tech. /M. Plan degree program at NIT Calicut should have passed B.E./ B. Tech/ B.Arch. / B. Plan. in an appropriate branch from an approved Institute/ University with minimum 60% marks (or CGPA 6.5/10) for GEN/ GEN-EWS/ OBC
  • For SC/ ST candidates 55% marks (or CGPA 6.0/10) is required.

NIT Calicut MTech Selection Criteria

  • Selection will be according to the performance and GATE score.
  • Once the GATE scores are released, the board conducts the CCMT counselling process for the selected candidates on the basis of their rank.
  • This would be followed by an Interview. 70% weightage is given to GATE Score and 30% weightage is given to the Interview.

NIT Calicut MTech Course Details

  • The M.Tech program is a two-year program divided into 4 semesters. The four semesters are based on the credit system. 
  • The programs comprise several core and elective courses and project work.
  • 8 Core courses and 2 elective courses are included in the syllabus.
  • A minimum of 60 credits have to be earned for the award of MTech Degree in this Programme.
  • Credits will be assigned to the courses based on the following general pattern
  1. One credit for each lecture hour
  2. One credit for each laboratory or practical session of two hours

iii. Two credits for each laboratory or practical session of more than two hours

  1. Two credits for each studio session (for M. Plan.) of three hours
  2. Credit for the seminar, project work, thesis (for M Plan) and industrial/practical training will be as specified in the approved curriculum.
