  • A Master’s degree (Bachelor’s degree in the 10+2+3 pattern, followed by a Master’s degree) in any discipline with at least 55% marks (50% Marks for SC / ST / PwD)
  • 5 year full time Integrated Master’s degree (obtained completing higher secondary schooling in the 10+2 pattern) in any discipline with at least 55% marks (50% Marks for SC / ST / PwD)

Stipend Offered
  • Tuition fee waiver & stipend of INR 42 K per month
  • Non-residential subsidy INR 20 K for students with no hostel accommodation
  • Doctoral students are also eligible for start-up (Rs 75,000 in year 1) and contingency grants (Rs 25,000 per year in Years 2 to 5) that could be used for books, stationery, computers, and other resources to support their doctoral programme work. 
  • Students can avail of funding to the extent of INR 3,60,000 towards such travel during their course of study in the programme.

Ques. Does PhD students at IIM Bangalore require to pay a tuition fee?

Ans. No, there isn’t a tuition fee for Ph.D. students. Instead, they receive a stipend of INR 35,000 per month to cover their monthly expenses. This is subject to satisfactory progress in the program.

Ques. What are the financial aid offered to PhD candidates in IIM Bangalore? 

Ans. Yes. Aside from the monthly stipend, Ph.D. students also receive the following –
  • Startup grant (in the 1st year) of INR 75,000 to meet expenses on purchasing hardware, software, etc.
  • Contingency grant (annual, 2nd year to 5th year) of INR 25,000 to meet expenses on purchasing hardware, software, etc.
  • Post-Comprehensive exam stipend increment (monthly): INR 2,000.
  • Post-Proposal stipend increment (monthly): INR 3,000.
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA) for those who live off-campus, monthly: INR 15,000 (single students); INR 20,000 (married students).
  • National Conference grants of up to INR 20,000 each towards accepted papers for three conferences (prior approval needed).
  • International Conference grants of up to INR 1,50,000 each towards a first accepted paper. And up to INR 75,000 each for subsequent conferences (prior approval needed).
