NIT Silchar Scholarship

A variety of scholarships are available at NIT Silchar for the students enrolled across different programs offered by the institute. Besides the Scholarship offered by the institute, the students can also avail the facility of the national-level scholarship provided by MHRD based on the merit cum means. Some of the popular scholarship schemes of NIT Silchar are mentioned below. 

Swami Dayanand Education Foundation Scholarship:

  • The Swami Dayanand Education Foundation Scholarships are offered to students whose annual family income is less than INR 6 lakhs.
  • About 30% of the scholarships under this scheme are reserved for women candidates and the students are granted a scholarship award ranging from INR 15,000 to INR 50,000 under this scholarship scheme depending on different caste categories.

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Chinese Government Scholarship:

  • The MHRD Chinese Government Scholarship Schemes are offered to the students of NIT Silchar on the basis of merits as per the guidelines of the Chinese Government. 
  • However, the students receive the basic scholarship benefits and exact awards are yet to be released by the authority only.

NIT Silchar Research Fellowships:

  • The Research Fellowships are offered to the students pursuing postgraduate programs in research or Ph.D. degrees at NIT Silchar sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
  • The senior research fellow gets a fellowship or INR 28,000 while the junior research fellow gets INR 25,000 under this Research Fellowship Scheme.

Scholarship for ST Students:

  • The Scholarship is offered by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs of the Government of India to the needy and meritorious students of ST categories. 
  • Students are granted INR 45,000 for the purchasing of laptops, computers, books, or any other academic accessories.

Fees for the general candidate are too high but for students with reservations the academic fee was zero and the hostel fee was 45000 and there would be a mess and admission fees. An NSP scholarship is provided annually for 4 years.

The cost of study depends upon the category and the income of the student's parents as the fee structure for a general student having a family income above 5 lakhs would cost 1,40,000 per year and it goes on decreases for less income and categories.

Yeah coming to fee structure for candidates who has reservation only costs 60k per year and it's too low compared to many nits and iits , and has a decent placements with over highest package of 52lpa

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Fees for GEN candidates are too high but for the students with reservation is quite affordable. The hostel fees are the same for all the candidates. TFW will be given on the basis of category and student family income. All the scholarships are available for all the students but only on the basis of the criterion of the scholarship.

I am from the general category, so I did not get any such benefits. but there is fee flexibility for below 5 lakhs and below 1 lakhs. students can even claim NSP and other scholarships from many organizations.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions:

Here fees are not as high as those charged by private colleges. here the annual fee of course is 125000. Apart from that you get fee remission on the basis of the income of your family and also the tuition fees of SC, and ST PWD candidates are free. I have applied for an ONGC scholarship but the result is not announced yet.

If you are an EWS, sc, st student and your parent's yearly income is less than 5 lakhs then you will hey a fee waiver but for the rest of the students you have to pay full fees. Ishan Uday and other various types of private scholarships are available.

The fee structure is decent, and it's pretty much affordable, unlike private Institutes. There are many scholarship schemes but you need to be aware of the late dates of the form you can reach YouTube and other sources to collect information. Most of them you can avail in the first year. Specially those having income 5lakh below they can earn good benefits.

My fee of study is 65200 rupees per year. The other cost for the study is 30,000 rupees per annum. I don't have any type of scholarship in college and there are government scholarships. Most probably jobs on campus will have.
