Life at IISER Kolkata

Remarks :

The admission procedure was very fair. We have to enter IISERs through the IIT-JAM examination. First, you will be shortlisted for the interview based on your IIT-JAM score, and then the final selection will be based on the interview marks. The application has already started for this year and all the fees and important dates can be found on the IIT-JAM website. Yes, reservation benefits are definitely there. A lot of relaxation of marks is there compared to unreserved students. The improvement which I want is that the selection procedure can be a bit faster.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because chemistry has way more job scopes than any other subject. In IISER Kolkata there are about 31 chemistry faculties is huge and the faculty:student ratio is quite good. Every faculty is highly qualified and has contributed a lot in research. But their teaching methods need to be improved. Exams are very frequent so you will have to prepare yourself each and every day.

Placement Experience :

There is very few so-called campus placement here. Placements are mainly from IITs and NITs. Here if You are interested in research then only come. Even the students don't think of placements here because It's not a good place for placements.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

For General and OBC, the fees are around 52000(excluding lodging and food). For SC and ST fees are around 14000(excluding lodging and fooding). I didn't get any scholarship or job from this Institute.

Campus Life :

There is no specified annual fest. If they wish they will do it otherwise there is no specific date as such. But celebrations are done on every occasion. There is a huge collection of books and journals in the library. The classrooms are great. Air-conditioned. The projector is also there. Many kinds of sports clubs are there. You can join any one of them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum: The course curriculum should cover a wide range of relevant topics in data science and analytics. It should include theoretical concepts, practical applications, and industry-related projects. Real-world case studies and the integration of the latest tools and technologies are essential. Reason for Choosing the Course: You might choose a data science and analytics course for its relevance in the job market, the opportunity to work with data or your interest in the field. Faculty: Faculty members should ideally have strong academic backgrounds and industry experience in data science. A lower faculty-to-student ratio often allows for more personalized attention. Teaching Methods: Effective teaching methods might involve a combination of lectures, practical exercises, and hands-on projects. Faculty should be approachable, engaging, and responsive to students' needs. Timeliness of Exams: Timely term exams and result publication are crucial for smooth.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because the syllabus resembles with CSIR NET syllabus. Teachers are well experienced and qualified. Exams are difficult to pass and commence every semester. For 77 students there were 17 staff members.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Here exams are taken semester basis. there are a total of six semesters for graduation and four for master's. I think semester exams are not so difficult to pass, if you attain all the classes it's very easy to gain a good CGPA, also teachers are so helpful.

Placement Experience:

Mostly the Pharmaceutical and Edtech companies visit the campus for placement in our particular branch. And they offer entry-level salaries from generally 5-10 lakhs per annum. Whereas if you are adopted with good coding skills, there are many more opportunities for students upto 30 laks or so, that depends upon your desirability. Mainly students with keen on researches and higher education, join this course every year. Hopefully, I would also like to pursue higher studies, PhD, after the Masters is completed.
