AMC Visakhapatnam - An Honest Review

AL
3.6 /5

Remarks :

Admission Process is quite easy. For that first one has to write NEET exam after 12th with science stream and Physics, chemistry and biology as subjects. Once he/she gets the desired rank, one has to wait for counselling results. If alloted the college, other formalities like document verification are done and admission is approved. Reservations are there for OBC, ST and SC along with PwD candidates.

Course Curriculum Overview :

MBBS is a great course and who doesn't like to hear 'Doctor, thanks for saving my life'. The best part of MBBS is the exposure and satisfaction it gives. In AMC, the student-teacher ratio is good and is about 1:20 in practical, 1:10 in clinical postings, and 1:100 during lectures. Faculties are well-renowned doctors of society who also share a passion for passing on knowledge to the next generation. Due to such good teachers, exams become very easy to crack, but one definitely has to burn his/her midnight oil to pass through. Pass marks are 50% in each subject theory and practical.

Internships Opportunities :

The internship is a compulsory job one has to do after completing 4.5 years of academic knowledge. Internship is very hectic and one gets very little time to relax. Pay is nominal, and is about 22500/- per month. It is a year period in different departments of the Hospital.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees are very nominal as it is a government college 1st year: 26500, 2nd year: 10250, 3rd year: 10250, 4th year: 10250, Stipend during Internship: 22500/- per month (12 months) Hostel Fee: 10000 yearly, Mess Fee: 4500 per month.

Campus Life :

Annual Fests are great here. Every events are top-notch including art, dance, music, singing, debates, quizzes etc. There is annual sports fest which includes most of the indoor and outdoor sports as well. Classroom and library are great places to study. Various clubs for photography, social events, and annual magazines are also there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

MBBS is a dream of lakhs of students in India and I am no different. I worked really hard to get myself enrolled in this prestigious 100-year-old Medical College of India. Student-Teacher Ratio during lectures is around 125:1 and during practicals and small-group Discussions is about 20:1. Faculty in all medical colleges are well qualified as they themselves are doctors first and then a professor. Most of them have done their MD/MS degree from renowned Medical Institutes of India including AIIMS, JIPMER, PGI etc. The teaching method is a bit monotonous during lectures because most of the professors teach passively using a presentation, but real teaching happens in Laboratories and Clinical Postings where we actually see the purpose of our studies. Term Exams are one of the most dreaded things in most medical colleges as they make really tough to test the real understanding of the students in a particular subject. Passing criteria is 50% marks in both Theory & Practicals.
