Life of a Student in RGKMCH

Remarks :

You can be admitted to this college only after getting the required minimum cutoff marks in the NEET exam according to your quota. You can take the NEET exam after completing your 10+2 exams and science stream with physics chemistry biology. There is no application form as such but you can take admission through all India or state counselling that happens after the NEET exam results are released. This usually happens in September. Reservation benefits are given to SC, OBC and ST, PWD, minorities, etc. They have to get lesser cutoff marks as compared to unreserved students I haven't availed of any such benefit of registration. There can be an improvement in the admission process by making it more online and student-friendly in regards to making changes even after the details have been submitted.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is a standard MBBS course according to the latest CBME curriculum. I chose this course to fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor. The faculty-student ratio is quite good (around 1:10). All the faculty are themselves doctors with minimum MBBS degrees and the professors have at least a Master's degree(MD or MS) The teaching method is classroom and practical. There are smart boards for presentation and interactive teaching Term exams are held thrice every year and there is one university exam at the end of each year. Passing these exams requires a minimum of 50% marks of an aggregate of both theory and practical. One can pass them only if he/she has studied regularly.

Internships Opportunities :

The last year of the course involves a one-month internship in each of the 19 departments which allows us to learn from the best doctors In their fields. The internship is done within the college campus, in Bagh Bazaar and Aamdanga as well. Interns get a monthly stipend of around 30k. They get to learn under the PGTs and Professors to understand how to deal with patients in the real world.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Fees are quite low just 4500 INR every semester (6 months). There is no increase in the fees throughout the course and a total of 9 semesters make the total course fees to around 40000INR. At the end of the 4.5 years, we get an internship stipend of around 30k. There is hardly any time to do extra jobs during the course as MBBS is tough.

Campus Life :

The Annual Academic Fest is 'Lobelia' which is one of the biggest medical college fest in East India. There is also and Annual Academic Fest 'Therapeuo' which was started in 2023 itself. All the required books and journals are available in the library. You can even buy books notebooks stationary and other equipment like a stethoscope, bp machine, white coat, etc. at the 'Cheap Store' on the campus. Classrooms are air-conditioned with projectors and good seats and fans and lights etc. All extracurricular activities like sports, and cultural events everything happen with great enthusiasm. There are five dance societies, one drama society, a literary club, a sports club, a scientific committee, Students council, Ex student association, etc.

Hostel Facilities :

The college provides a bed and mattress (godrej interior) and rack. Rest all things have to be bought on our own. There are 4 people in one room. Clean drinking water(RO Filters) on each floor. Regular cleaning of corridors and washrooms happens to make it a sanitary environment. Any problem that arises is solved within short notice by our PWD department on writing an application. Meal quality is good and edible. Different dishes are served every day. Hostel rent is just 12 INR per month which is very cheap.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the MBBS course as I wanted to be a doctor and I have to do this course to be one. our total no. Of students is 250 and our student-to-faculty ratio is close to 30:1. The faculty members are really experienced in their own respective fields. The professional exams and semesters are a little difficult but you can pass easily by studying consistently for 3-4 hours a day. In the 5 years of MBBS, you will have 4 professional exams at the end of the year and 9 semesters.
