Student's Review On IIT Hyderabad - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITH], Hyderabad | collegedunia.com

IIT Hyderabad- A New Realm

Remarks :

The admission process was detailed and tough, considering the competition all around India. All in aim for IITs have to clear Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced and only 6k students out of 2 lacs are selected from the open category, both boys and girls included, to join the IIT system. For writing this exam, one has to clear the cutoff in JEE Mains, having secured a percentile above 90 (which means coming in the top 80k out of 9 lacs who take the test). Admission into IITs follows the idea of elimination rather than selection, which is the reason for its difficulty. IITs are the best institutes in India for engineering aspirants, so the competition is very high.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this because I am interested in chemistry. The faculty student ratio is much higher compared to other colleges in India, which is good and needed, and which makes IITs the best. The professors of IIT Hyderabad are well qualified- they should have done atleast one PhD in a well-established institute and should have had years of training and teaching experience. They are highly knowledgeble very good in teaching, and encourage students in learning and pursuing their interests. We have fractal academic systems, so exams are kept at regualr intervals to avoid last minute pressure and burden on students. The exams are not so tough if the students study well.

Internships Opportunities :

There are many excellent internship opportunities offered inside and outside campus in industries. The students get good roles and have hands-on experience in industry-level training. The Office of Career Services (OCS) Council in IITH takes care of the placements and internships.

Placement Experience :

Students can take up internships from any year, and sit for placements from the end of 3rd year. Top companies come to college from around the world to recruit graduates, with a median salary of 17 LPA. IITs are performing very well when it comes to placements. more than 86% of the students get placed every year. The highest package offered this year was 66LPA and it is bound to increase over the years. IIT Hyderabad is the fastest-growing 2nd generation IIT.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

IITs are the best when it comes to scholarships and financial assistance for the ones who need them. The fees are lesser compared to private colleges, and there is a whole team (Office of Career Services) behind the career and job assistance.

Campus Life :

Elan & NVision is the annual techno-cultural festival of IITH which is conducted every year in February. It goes on for 3 days, with many competitions, workshops, pronites, informal and proshows. The library has efficient books needed for our course, and they also order the books which are not there but needed by students, without any hesitation. IITH has one the best infrastructure among all IITs, the classrooms are modern and kept clean and new, with ventilation ducts and Air-Conditioners, and proper benches. There are many different kinds of clubs at IIT Hyderabad, like LitSoc, Sunshine, Rang de Manch, Finance and Consulting, Entrepreneurship, Gesture, InFocus, Behind the Lens, Astronomy, Torque, Robotics and many more exciting ones.

Hostel Facilities :

We at IITH have single rooms, fully equipped with a fan, 2 lights, radiant cooling during summers, a table and chair, a large bed, and a cupboard. All hostels are within the IITH campus itself and are just a 5-minute walk from the mess and academic blocks. The mess is co-ed and it has both North and South Indian food, quite delicious and a variety on the menu. We get all sorts of food in the mess in an organised manner, and also from the canteen during day time.

Placement Experience:

Not to worry, even if you missed out on campus placements, you can still secure a similar job, just the process will be a bit more complicated. While campus placements involve companies reaching out to you, to attempt an off-campus placement you will need to do your research and approach companies.
