AYUSH KUMAR's Review On International Institute Of Hotel Management - [IIHM], Kolkata | collegedunia.com

My internship experience

Remarks :

Anyone who has scored more than 50% in their 12th standard is eligible for the exam. We have opt for a test and scored 60% marks to get short listed . After that there is a GD round followed by PI. The application details are available on the IIHM.ac.in website. I haven't seen any kind of reservations benefits. The admission process is very smooth

Course Curriculum Overview :

I wanted to become a Chef that's i have choosed this course . The faculty was nice and helpful for each and every student they are available all the time . Today also if i face any problems i can contact the faculty and they will surely help me. The student ratio was around 50-60 students and 2 class teachers. The teachers were experienced in there subjects as they were having practical and theory knowledge both. There methods was simple and helpful. There were 2 exams in each semester. And the passing level was moderate.

Internships Opportunities :

As per my experience i was working with radisson blu ranchi. And the stipend was 1k for a month and it was for 6 months working in all four section in a hotel that is F&B, Housekeeping, Front Office and Kitchen. All the works in a hote in all these categories was performed by me during my intership. It helped me alot to learn different works.

Placement Experience :

When we complete 4th semester we are eligible for the placement program. 30-40company and many offers were made vas it was the time of covid19-20 the placement were held online. Hyatt, Oberoi, ITC etc were some top companies. Highest package was around 8-9lacs. Average was around 4-5lacs. 50 percentage was placed. I don't know exact percentage. Planning for masters .

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fees was very much high. As it's very difficult for a middle class family to afford it. The scholarship program was only for the students who had scored 90% + on their 12th standard and the scholarship percentage was quite low. During the internship period stiped starting from 1k-7k was provided depending on the hotel.

Campus Life :

Various food festivals and programs are held in every 2months . The main fest was international food olympiad. Each and every book related to the courses are available . Basic amenities were there in the classroom. But during the practical session each and every amenities was provided by the staffs. Inter college sports are organised and the sports were football and cricket. There were Instagram pages in the name of IIHM run by the faculties and the students both.

Hostel Facilities :

The facilities provided was very much basic in the hostel no wifi facilities was available. Meal was quite good in the morning time. Dinner was like OK thing for me . As there were only 2meals served in a day. And Saturday and Sunday 3meals for a day. College itself provide hostel availability during the time of admission.

Interview Experience :

Gd topics was SOCIAL MEDIA BOON OR BAN Interview question was introduction followed by background, skills and why we want to pursue HM. Test patterns comprises of english , reasoning and math. Basic knowledge and practice in each of the above subjects is required to attempt for this test. I prepared from my 10th standard NCERT maths book for the preparation. And other various books for English and reasoning.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The student ratio of my department is obnoxiously high. 70 students in 1 class feel like a cow shed and serious steps must be taken in order to reduce the number of students. The faculty of the department is more or less qualified. Nearly every faculty member has completed their P.hd.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course of Life Science since I was always interested in studying Biology and since after 12 I did not have a very clear idea about each sub-discipline of biology hence I didn't want to choose to do BSc in any particular discipline of biology. This course is very well-balanced and packed. For those who have a goal or interest in R&D and research-oriented life in biology, this course is a golden opportunity. The student-faculty ratio is moderate. Initially, it might seem a bit high but since many students leave for getting into medical college or somewhere else, the ratio lowers and it's pretty okay. The faculty of Life Science dept. is highly qualified and experienced in their own particular sub-disciplines. All our professors have done their Ph.D. from great universities in our country and outside (US, Korea, Japan, etc.) Their teaching method is very research-oriented and proper guidance is provided by our professors at every step of our course. Exams involve mid sem & endsem per sem

Course Curriculum Overview:

The faculty is very good. The faculty members and course curriculum are very good and it is known not only in west Bengal but also in India. There are almost 40 teaching members. They are all well qualified. There are internal exams as well as semester exams. If one attends the classes, it is easy to pass the exam.

Placement Experience:

For some departments, there is a scope of placement. For our department, we were offered to seat in placements. TCS, WIPRO, ICICI, etc companies came and the average package was around 3 lakh per year. But most of the students don't seat for placement because they're willing to go for higher studies. After doing B.Sc one can crack IIT JAM JEST TIFR-like exams to opt for M.Sc. in IITs and in a reputed research organization. Similarly after BA, one can go for MA

Course Curriculum Overview:

First of all, I obtained 93 marks in Biology on my board exam. I enjoy studying biology. I'm very curious about plants and nature. So I have decided to pursue a career in Biology. We had a total of four faculties in our Botany department and in our batch, there were around 40 students. So the student-faculty ratio was like for every 10 students we have one faculty. But our professors were great. All of them are highly qualified and completed their PhD. Besides lectures, they conduct a few webinars on our subject topics and they have taken practical classes. We had a semester every 6 months. And the initial first two semesters we had to give two papers each. But we had to choose pass subjects. You can choose zoology, chemistry, physics or Maths as a pass subject. Exams are quite difficult to pass once we move towards the 5th & 6th semesters. So any student must have to study very hard to pass.
