Which colleges in DU allow inter college migrations?

AS
Agasthya Sen Posted On : October 10th, 2022
Studied at University of Delhi

To migrate, you must obtain a NOC (no objections certificate) from both your current college and the college to which you wish to transfer.

If you are a bright student, your principal is unlikely to grant you NOC.

If you are an average student, the college where you want to go will not give you a NOC. Justice believes that it is practically a gain for the principal to accept an average student into his college.

Let's get to the point where we migrate when there are open seats in the college we want to attend. However, CBCS was implemented at DU in 2015, and no student will be failed under CBCS.

Even if a student fails, he will be allowed to continue to the next semester. It is up to the individual whether or not he clears his paper by taking improvement exams.

So, while migration in DU appears to be simple, it is now nearly impossible.

Is there any management quota in IET DAVV or SGSITS?

NG
Namrita Ghose Posted On : April 21st, 2021
BE Civil Engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV (2020)

Neither IET DAVV and SGSITS have management quota seats.

IET DAVV:

  • IET DAVV is a government-funded college so there is no management quota available and there is no other option to get direct admission into the college.
  • If you want to get admission to this college, then you have to appear for JEE exams and score a higher rank to be eligible for admission here.
  • You can also apply for college-level counseling for which you need a higher rank to get selected in this college.

SGSITS:

  • SGSITS is a government-run college so there is no management quota too. This is one of the oldest and reputed colleges of Madhya Pradesh and to get admission you have to score very good marks in your JEE exams.
  • You can also apply for college-level counseling but for this, you need a higher JEE rank.
  • If you are from Madhya Pradesh itself, then you can increase your chances for admission by showing your MP domicile certificate.

Hope this helps.

Do colleges in Mumbai such as SPIT, KJ Somaiya and DJ Sanghavi have management quota?

PS
Prachi Singh Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
Student at KJ Somaiya College of Engineering

Management quota seats are rarely available at these colleges. Mainly, these colleges admit students through various rounds known as central admission process (CAP) rounds. These are undertaken by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra.

  • If you are considering admission to either of these colleges, admission through these rounds is always on the basis of merit.
  • Usually, there are three CAP rounds carried out. Now, if seats still remain vacant after these rounds, they might admit students through management quota.
  • Management quota seats are not available before round 3. By the end of round 3, all seats in the popular branches are usually filed.

If you are planning to pursue chemical or production engineering, you can wait till round 3 is over, otherwise, it is not recommended.

KR
Kinjal Roy Posted On : March 5th, 2021
Maths major undergraduate student at IISER KOLKATA

The mathematics which the students study now at the undergraduate level is different from what they study for the JEE preparation. There are only a few courses of applied math where you will do the coding, IISER Kolkata offers one such course.

  • If you want to find out more about coding, there are several MOOCs offered by several best universities across the planet online.
  • The college environment also plays a crucial role in one's overall development, be it socially or academically, IISER Kolkata offers a good environment.

Lastly, if you would like to pursue research in Math then definitely join IISER Kolkata, or if you would like to only do applied mathematics (coding) and obtain a job then you ought not to choose IISER Kolkata.

Why are there only 39 seats in the first batch of IT with specialisation in Business Informatics in IIIT Allahabad?

SG
Soumi Ghosh Posted On : March 11th, 2021
Former student at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (2013-2018)

The first batch of B.Tech IT business informatics was recently introduced in 2019. The program has been designed by adding some special features along with core B. Tech curriculum which is usually offered at IIIT-A. With the aim of giving the best of all the resources, IIIT-A authorities decided to limit the number of seats for first batch students. Based upon the demand and other criteria, there is a high chance of modification of the seat matrix in the future.

Some features which are compulsory for students pursuing B.Tech in business informatics at IIIT-A are mandatory French/German language course, compulsory credit based summer internships, Harvard business case study based approach in pedagogy which requires high-quality resources. So limiting the number of seats to give quality education and focusing on each of their students is IIIT-A's main goal now.

Round -1 Cutoff:

  • You have to clear JEE Main with a ranking of around 3097 to get into B.Tech business informatics in the first round.
  • Closing rank trends from the past few years have been around 4651 for the general category.

Detailed seat matrix:

Branch

Seats

Information technology and business informatics - Gender neutral

32

Information technology and business informatics - female only

08

Total seats

40

First batch students are yet to face placements in 2022, the course seems very promising and opportunities are equal to that of the B.Tech IT branch.

What if I get a seat at PEC Chandigarh after the spot round only?

MS
Meena Sachdeva Posted On : May 2nd, 2021
B.Tech Civil Engineering, Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh

Students who get admission at PEC through spot round usually get branches like Production or Civil Engineering. It is true that classes at PEC Chandigarh begin before the spot-round selection. You will also miss the orientation program and which according to the students of the institutes are quite boring sometimes. So you may miss some of the lectures, but it is of the least concern because you will be easily able to cover up the portion that you missed out on. Your fellow classmates can help you out with the same, besides mostly introductions are done over that 1st week.

After the manual counseling i.e. the spot round is over visit PEC for registration, after that you can start attending the classes.

Are there paid seats in Symbiosis institute of Business management (SIBM), Bangalore and NMIMS Bangalore?

GG
Gopi Krishna Goyal Posted On : March 2nd, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India (2021–present)

The practice of offering paid seats, also known as management quota or director's quota, is prevalent in many institutions, including various Symbiosis campuses. However, it is essential to understand that such seats come at a premium price and do not guarantee admission based on merit. This is where the admission process at SIBM Bengaluru stands apart. The institute takes pride in its merit-based admission process, which is based solely on the candidate's SNAP score.

SNAP, or the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test, is a nationally recognized entrance exam that is mandatory for admission to various management programs offered by Symbiosis Institutes. The test measures a candidate's aptitude for management and is designed to assess the candidate's skills in areas such as quantitative ability, verbal ability, general awareness, and analytical & logical reasoning. SIBM Bengaluru follows the SNAP score cut-off for determining the eligibility of candidates for admission. This means that to secure a seat in SIBM B, you will need to perform well in the SNAP exam and meet the cut-off set by the institute.

NMIMS, or the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, is another reputed management institute in India. However, unlike many other institutions, NMIMS follows a strict merit-based admission process. This means that admission to NMIMS is granted solely on the basis of a candidate's performance in the entrance exam and does not involve any paid seats.

In conclusion, while the practice of offering paid seats is widespread in the education sector, it is important to choose an institute that values merit over money. SIBM Bengaluru and NMIMS are two such institutions that follow a strict merit-based admission process, ensuring that only the most deserving and competent candidates secure a place in their programs.

How many students have enrolled for IIM Sambalpur?

RA
Ridhima Airi Posted On : February 10th, 2023
Works at Wirtgen Sp-500 Pavers

IIM Sambalpur, along with the other 9 newly opened IIMs (Jammu, Bodhgaya, Raipur, Kashipur, Sambalpur, Ranchi, Trichy, Sirmaur, and Udaipur) are adopting the Common Admission Process (CAP) for Personal Appearance (PA) for their MBA admissions. The cutoff percentile for female candidates in the General category for the PA process is set at 80 with a sectional cutoff of 65 percentiles. This means that achieving the minimum overall or sectional CAT percentile does not guarantee an invitation for the Personal Appearance (PA) process.

With 210 seats available, IIM Sambalpur follows the Government of India’s reservation policy. It is important to review the category-wise reservation policy defined by IIM Sambalpur before applying.

Category % Reservation
Schedule Caste 15%
Schedule Tribe 7.5%
OBC Non-creamy layer 27%
DAP 5%
EWS 10%

Additionally, most of the students at IIM Sambalpur have either a B.Tech or M.Tech background and have prior work experience in reputed companies across the country. Some students have left their jobs to pursue their MBAs while others are on study leave.

How much Hard is to get an MD/MS seat through NEET PG or AIIMS PG?

SK
Sahil Khurana Posted On : January 8th, 2021
MBBS Medicine and Healthcare, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh

To be very honest, to get an MD/MS seat through NEET PG or AIIMS PG is not an impossible task. It requires a lot of focus, dedication, and appropriate preparation.

The table below will give some recent insights about NEET PG and AIIMS PG.

Total Number of MD + MS + Diploma seats under NEET PG (Government + Private) 27,979
Total Number of MD+ MS+ Diploma Government seats under NEET PG 17,921
Total Number of MD + MS seats under AIIMS PG 680
Number of candidates registered for NEET PG (2020) 1,67,102
Number of candidates qualified NEET PG (2020) 89,549
Number of candidates registered for AIIMS PG (2020) 30,000 (approx.)

Key highlights:

  • The main thing to keep in mind is that ‘Focus and Dedication’ make everything sorted. You must focus on proper preparation from the 1st year of MBBS.
  • You will be required to do an internship after 4 years of MBBS. The time spent during the internship can be used in preparation for NEET PG or AIIMS PG.
  • For some candidates, taking a drop of a year for preparation suits best. While for the rest, preparation along with internship and regular practice is enough.
  • It is very difficult to manage all subjects in a short period of time. The syllabus for the exam is also not fixed.
  • Getting a seat in AIIMS PG is definitely a more difficult option than in NEET PG. For candidates having full faith, they should have a more refined and clear in-depth concept for the exams.

If you are dedicated from the beginning, it is very easy to secure a seat through any entrance exam. Having a proper strategy from the initial days is the key to success in every competitive stage.
