DTU is a tier 1 engineering college and has a distinct legacy of its own. It is one of the oldest engineering institutes in India and according to the 2020 NIRF Ranking, it ranks 34th among the top technological institutes in India. The placement scenario at DTU is quite impressive and students receive an average package of 6.5 LPA on placement drive.

Although COEP is also a reputed college, most of the students are local and Marathi speaking. So if you are comfortable in Marathi and can strike a balance between Marathi and English, then you might consider COEP. The biggest advantage of COEP is it is located in the automation hub Pune which helps in the placement, especially for the mechanical branch.

Although the ‘NIT’ tag offers certain advantages, except for IT and ME branches the placement scenario in lower NIT’s is not up to the mark. Besides, these lower-ranked colleges also offer fewer opportunities for startups and entrepreneurship. DTU on the other hand has an excellent coding culture and conducts a vast number of fests for coders. However, a major difference between DTU and lower NITs is that the fee in the latter is much less as compared to the institute fees in the former. All NITs have a common fee structure as they all come under the reserved list of “Centrally Sponsored Institutes”. Furthermore, NITs also offer many scholarships for students.

However, considering all the aspects and the associated pros and cons, DTU should be the first choice.
