The preference is always given to BITS Goa as it belongs to the most reputed family of BITS institute. One of my friends has studied there and he loves the campus from all aspects.

The major reasons as to why BITS Goa is to be preferred are:

Scope

• CSE has more job opportunities in the market as compared to other branches of engineering. 
• If you even go for a core organization in the chemical field; the highest package is not more than 6 LPA. 
• In the case of CSE, if you are into coding a good package can be cracked.
• The highest package is close to 1.40 crore in BITS Goa. The average also stands at a decent place. 
• The prominent recruiters are - ADM Argo, Adobe, Bajaj Auto, Capgemini, CGI, Cisco, DE Shaw, EXL Services, Razor Pay, Reliance Jio, Freshworks and Goldman Sachs.

Faculty

• The computer science faculty cannot be compared with chemical engineering. 
• CS faculty is amazing having well-equipped knowledge in the field to deal with real competition. They all are efficient in imparting real practical skill set to their students in a proper manner.

Campus

• Goa is a place people look out for holidays, and having a college in Goa makes it even more fascinating and attractive. 
• Certain limitations are also imposed on students. You cannot leave the campus before 5 PM and you should return back by 11 PM. 

BITS Goa makes it a better option on all fronts whether its faculty, campus, or scope. Having this outlook will help you get to a good institute. The stream can be a point of interest but other factors also matter.

IIT BHU, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Gandhinagar are all premier institutes of India. There are three parameters on which we can differentiate these institutes for Chemical Engineering. 

The first one is the academic curriculum. The academic curriculum of IIT Gandhinagar is relatively better than the other two institutes since its curriculum is new and according to the latest advancements in science. Also, a lot of research work is going on in IIT Gandhinagar in the field of chemical engineering. 

The second factor is the infrastructure of the campus, in this IIT Hyderabad has an edge over the other two IITs. The infrastructure of IIT Hyderabad is the best amongst these three colleges and the chemical engineering department is also equipped with the latest instruments. 

The third and the most important factor is placements in which IIT BHU is a little ahead than these two institutes. IIT BHU is ranked amongst the top 5 colleges in India in terms of placements. In 2019 placement drive a total of 104 students from Chemical Engineering got placed and the average salary ranged between 10 LPA to 58 LPA. Chemical engineering students at IIT BHU get placed in core companies like ONGC, IOCL, HUL, Reliance, etc, and several non - core companies like Microsoft, PhonePe, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, etc. IIT Gandhinagar is also good for placements in chemical engineering since many private chemical firms are situated in Gujarat but being a new IIT, its alumni strength is not so impressive. There was over 80% placement in IIT Gandhinagar last year with average CTC 8.96 LPA. In IIT Hyderabad, 26 students from Chemical Engineering got placed with an average CTC 15.5 LPA.

All three IITs have their pros and cons which makes it difficult to choose the best.

Since we are looking at different streams of study, the curriculum that covers an interdisciplinary course would be Chemical Engineering at IIPE Vizag considering the entire curriculum has been designed by IIT Kharagpur. IISER Bhopal is known for its multidisciplinary structure and the economics program offers students with open electives to specialize in.

The Mechanical Engineering program at IIITDM Jabalpur offers some of the best placements in the country and allows students to get a research-based educational experience.

Based on some important factors, let us have a look at the difference between the programs and given institutions:

Ranking:

• IISER Bhopal has been ranked at 28 by NIRF in 2018 and has been declared as an institute of National Importance by the Government of India.
• IIPE Vizag has a ranking of 22 within Institutes for Oil and Petroleum in India and observes IIT Kharagpur as its mentor institute.
• IIITDM Jabalpur observes a ranking of 65 for Engineering by JEE Cutoff in 2019.

• Being a government-funded institute, IISER Bhopal has great infrastructure and is technologically inclined with the most updated software in practical labs for students to use.
• High-speed internet is available all throughout the campus and students are encouraged to use e-learning facilities available in their well-equipped smart classrooms.

IIPE Vizag:

• The campus has been newly built with modern technology and offers a huge library with over 30,000 books which include e-books and journals.
• The institute facilitates practical labs by Andhra University and is also a pipeline for IIPE upgradation.
• The campus area is comparatively smaller but offers great facilities for students.

IIITDM Jabalpur:

• The campus at IIITDM Jabalpur has two hostels and a residence hall along with multiple practical labs such as an Advanced manufacturing lab, biometric lab, computational lab, an open-air theatre, conference halls, smart classrooms, and a well-stocked library.
• It also has great LAN facilities that are functional in the hostels as well as on-campus.

Faculty:

• IISER Bhopal: The faculty members are excellent and the majority of them are frontline researchers of India.
• IIPE Vizag: The faculty employed are all alumni members of prestigious institutions such as IIT and IIM and therefore are highly skilled in teaching, with their supreme academic expertise in the field of oil and petroleum.
• IIITDM Jabalpur: The teachers are IIITDM Jabalpur are extremely helpful and research-oriented in terms of their teaching methodology.

Placements:

Based on the given factors, students can make well-informed decisions regarding their preferred course and institution.

M.Tech from IIT Bhubaneswar makes sense only if you are willing to study more on research-based topics of the subject. It is best if one is looking for a career in Teaching, Researching, etc. to further gain knowledge about the subject and not work in MNCs.

IIT Hyderabad ranks 8th in the Engineering category by NIRF 2020. The number of students who got placed from the Chemical Engineering department in the 2019 placements was 26. The average salary package offered to students with Chemical Engineering is 15 lakhs per annum.

IIST is a space institute under the Department of Space. The students from IIST are recruited as scientists and engineers in the Department of Space facilities and Indian Space Research Organization centers all over India. They receive a starting salary of 10 lakhs per annum. Facilities like Infrastructure, Library, sports facilities, Computer labs, clinics, Data centers in IIST are much better and well equipped than the IITs.

Thus it is your choice to opt for what course you are interested in.

ICT Mumbai wins this battle. It is one of the best-known colleges in India for chemical engineering. The table below shows the rankings for ICT Mumbai:

Starting from experienced faculty to great learning experience, placement rate is commendable. An average package deal for a chemical engineering student from ICT Mumbai is around 5 lakhs, which is pretty good. Also, several chemical industries and companies pay frequent visits to the campus. 

A friend of mine is an ex student ICT Mumbai. Here are the reasons why ICT Mumbai is better than an NIT:

1. ICT, as an institute, strictly concentrates on chemical engineering. The chemical engineers passed out from this institute add-up to its reputation and good word.
2. In terms of location, it is situated in the middle of industries from both Mumbai and Gujrat on either side. It will be convenient for the student to get himself/herself an internship in either of the industries or get a job during the placement session.
3. In terms of faculty, the teachers appointed are themselves specialists in the department of chemical engineering. Also, they have a good connection with multiple industries. 

Therefore, ICT Mumbai is the most favorable choice.

As for NIT, it depends on which NIT one is mentioning. If they are referring to NIT Rourkela, Warangal, Tirchi, Surathkal then they are good. The rest of the NITs aren’t up to the mark.

ICT Mumbai has been ranked 7th among all the Indian universities by The World University Rankings 2020. In The World University Rankings 2020, the institute has been ranked at the band of 401-500 for the Engineering and Technology category.

Opportunities:

• Under the guidance of hard-working, talented, and highly experienced scientists and scholars, the department of dyestuff technology has trained over 1200 undergraduates and more than 550 postgraduates.

• Moreover, the department has become a unique center of learning that offers an advanced curriculum that goes hand in hand with the latest academic and industrial developments. Furthermore, the department also organizes guest lectures, conferences, and seminars to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

• Additionally, the B.Tech course in dyestuff technology focuses attention on the process chemistry, technology, and engineering of organic intermediates and colorants.

All these factors create huge opportunities for students who want to pursue higher education in dyestuff technology.

Placement:

The institute has a well-organized placement cell that manages work ranging from the collection of the student’s CV, organizing them as per the company’s requirements, preparation of placement brochure, coordinating the interview schedules, etc.

• The highest package offered was 13.7 LPA which was offered by BPCL.

• In the last few academic years, the department placed all graduating students in the chemical industry in various fields such as R & D, production, marketing, etc.

• The placement percentage at the institute is around 90%.

Some of the companies also offer a package of 3-3.5 LPA.

The institute also offers internships to the students with a very good stipend. Industrial training is compulsory for students to pass out and college provides great help in getting it.
