AM

B.E Information Technology, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (2021)

If you are genuinely interested in ECE then you should opt for MAIT. Although from the viewpoint of future prospects, NIT ICE is far better than MAIT ECE.

Deciding Factors:

  • ECE is a core engineering discipline and you need to have good skills to secure decent placement opportunities.
  • The reputation of the college and brand name matters for placement.
  • There are certain advantages to pursuing a course at NSIT. The brand name has its perks.
  • One other advantage of NSIT is that you can choose to study any subjects from any discipline later on in your course as an elective.
  • Also, for immediate placement after graduation, NSIT is the ideal option.

The table below will give you a brief overview of the two options.

How do I choose between NSIT IT and DTU COE?

KV
Kunal Varma Posted On : January 5th, 2021
B.Tech Computer Science, Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (2022)

You should choose the branch you are more passionate about. If we look at the placement records of COE and IT at DTU and NSIT, they have similar placement stats.

For Core branches, DTU COE is a better alternative than IT at NSIT. But you should not base your decision depending solely on that factor.

Here are some of the important facts to be considered before applying to any of these colleges.

Student Intake:

  • The DTU had added and increased the number of seats by 221 in the Computer engineering branch.
  • This resulted in an increase in competition level. Therefore, the chances of getting placed in a company of one’s choice are low.

Course Curriculum:

  • The course curriculum has been updated at NSIT for all courses.
  • As per the new curriculum, the student would no longer be required to study the nerve-wracking subjects that are not related to their specialization such as ED in the first semester.

Placements: (NSIT IT ~ DTU COE)

The placement records of both DTU and NSIT are almost the same. An average salary of 10 LPA was offered at DTU whereas students at NSIT were given 9 LPA. It is clear that COE has slightly better placements than IT.

Preference Order: (NSIT IT>DTU COE)

  • The new curriculum at NSIT is captivating. It is associated with Delhi University, therefore the applicant will have a DU tag as well which is one of the salient features to study at NSIT.
  • Going by all the factors mentioned above, the preference order should be, NSIT IT>DTU COE.

You can look for additional details at the official website of both the colleges.

Why should I take IIITD over NSIT and DTU?

VG
Vishal Gupta Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

Comparison of IIIT Delhi over DTU and NSIT should be based on some criteria:

  • Placement:

According to IIITD, in 2019 B.Tech CSE placed 98.96% of students and B.Tech ECE placed 94.59% of students. The average salary of the last batch is Rs. 15 lakhs. In the case of NSIT, they record around 90% of placement every year. The average salary of the last B.Tech batch is around 8 lakhs per year. DTU also gives around 11.17 lakhs per annum with 70-80% student’s placement per year.

  • Infrastructure:

Established in 2008, IIITD has a cutting edge infrastructure with high tech equipment. In NSIT, you might still find 2nd gen. computers.  The institute has no A.C facility in labs, classrooms. And in DTU, the operative condition of instruments is also weak, even not fully connected to Wi-Fi.

  • Facilities:

In the case of academic blocks and hostel facilities, IIITD has an auditorium and a total of 25 lecture halls of varying sizes. At present, there is one hostel for boys and one for girls. NSIT has 2 girl’s hostels and 2 boy’s hostels. Hostel life is wonderful in DTU. Hostel infrastructure is good along with badminton and TT court inside. There are 5 hostels for boys and 3 for girls.

  • Library:

In IIITD, the Library has a large collection of print and electronic media. With this, the institute has fully connected through the internet connection. The condition of the library of NSIT and DTU is also good, but the condition of books and print media is less compared to IIITD.

  • Fee structure:

IIITD is nearly Rs. 3,60,000 per year for B.Tech in 2019 -20, for M.Tech (CSE/ECE) 2019 it is nearly Rs.1,85,000 which is high as compare to NSIT where for B.Tech nearly  Rs. 1,66,000 per year (2019-20), and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,86,000. Whereas DTU charges Rs. 1,95,000 for B.Tech and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,66,000.

The IIITD got rank through NIRF 55th   in India. Whereas the NSIT ranked 11 among Engineering colleges by Outlook and 22 by the week in 2019. The DTU has got rank 36 for engineering by NIRF 2020.

What is the better option, CS at NSUT or civil engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar ?

CG
Chahat Gulati Posted On : August 13th, 2020
B.Tech Computer Science, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (2022)

If you wish to work in the government sector, there are very few jobs in CSE but if you want to go for corporate work life, you should go with CSE.

Considering placements, if you opt for CS at NSUT, the average package at NSUT is around 14 LPA and the median package is around 8 LPA considering some international offers which increase the average package by a huge amount. In IIT Bhubaneshwar, people from Civil get jobs in both core and software companies. The packages range from 6 LPA to 39 LPA with an average somewhere around 11.4 LPA.

The campus life at IIT Bhubaneshwar is better as compared to that at NSUT. There are three fests, many science, and non-technical clubs, etc. There are E-classrooms in the campus with faculty to student ratio of around 15:1. The infrastructure, being newly built, is quite impressive with good classrooms and hostels.
