What is your review of Acharya Institute of Technology?

BS
Babita Sen Posted On : April 15th, 2021
Studied at Acharya Institute of Technology

Acharya is known for its stunning infrastructure. If you want to look into the academic section, then the views will be completely different for each department.

Departments:

  • Information Science and the Computer Science department are some of the best wings in AIT.
  • CS and IS faculty are better as there is a distinct expose of knowledge if compared to the department of E&C.
  • Other departments like Mechanical, BT, E&E, Mechatronics are ordinary.
  • It doesn't matter which branch you will choose. You will only do great if you are truly interested in it.

Faculty:

  • Expert faculties and most importantly the HOD, who is one of the best personalities you will ever meet in your life.
  • The higher management is quite helpful as they will assist you in every problem.
  • In engineering, if you want to learn something, you need to learn it on your own. Faculties will only guide you on the right path.

Fees:

  • The college fee structure and hostel fees is quite high as compared to other private colleges.

Placement:

  • Most of the companies recruit students for IT sector from branches like CS and IS.
  • A very few companies come for core branches but most of the companies allow all the departments for the placement.

Overall, the Acharya Institute of Technology is a potential choice.

What is your review of National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) , Surathkal?

MS
Meghna Singh Posted On : March 25th, 2021
Studied at National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal (2019)

NITK Surathkal is a blend of everything, you will get all types of experiences here. The faculty is experienced and dynamic, your peers are also brilliant and competitive. Students take admission at NITK upon being rejected admission by IITs, BHU, and ISM. Local people around the campus are educated, friendly, and ready to help.

  • The annual cultural fest, "Incident" is one of the best parts of the college experience where a foreign band and a Bollywood star are invited.
  • The campus is large with all the basic facilities like water and electricity. Mess is available, and in case you don't like mess food, you have food points and canteens on the campus. You can even place food orders on Zomato or Swiggy.
  • The alumni network is pretty good, you build connections and even have a lot of enjoyment.
  • Various cultural and technical clubs are present which regularly conduct workshops and activities engaging students. The film club screens a film every week.

Now coming to the main criteria, that is education which is one of the best in India. The Professors and seniors are always helping and encouraging at every step.

  • In spite of having a high quality of faculty, education, co-curricular, alumni network, infrastructure, research work, and what not, NITK does not rank best among the other NITs.
  • NITK is an autonomous institute and can design its curriculum itself, but there has not been any major considerable improvement yet.
  • The passing marks have been brought down to just 20% whereas, in most other engineering colleges, the passing percentage is at least 50%.

These are a few of the aspects that have less to not so good ranking of NITK Surathkal among the top engineering colleges of India.

How was your experience at ISB Mohali in general? Did you ever feel like you should've been in Hyderabad instead?

Debdeep Majumder Posted On : March 12th, 2021

One of my friends is from the ISB Mohali campus. She is currently on an exchange term at Hyderabad. As I have visited both the campuses personally so have a decent understanding of the pros and cons for both.

Advantages at Hyderabad campus

  • Huge size of cohort: Anyone who is interested in a large network can create one with 600 students studying here. The other aspect is that you may not know everyone who studies here.
  • Extracurricular and social life: Due to the location advantage, the Hyderabad campus provides students with an opportunity to have a much more vibrant social life. There are various clubs and departments specifying different interests of the students.
  • Company presentations & interactions: Most of the placement interviews take place by Mohali joining in via VC at the Hyderabad campus. However, to communicate with all students, the major recruiters usually visit both campuses.

Advantages at Mohali campus

  • Faculty: Mohali campus is comparatively new, and it is located in a tier-2 city. However, the resident faculty on campus is quite less. This means that the school flies in some of the best faculty from colleges like Wharton, UNC, and Kellogg to teach.
  • Accommodation & Food: The student villages at Mohali are much better in terms of furnishing, rooms, and quality of housekeeping, as it is a new campus.

Compared to Hyderabad, the catering in Mohali is also much better, but this may be a temporary phenomenon.

Obtaining subjects of your preference. During the elective terms, ISB follows an online bidding system for courses. Given the size of the Hyderabad campus, there are limited bid points so students wishing to take all the popular courses is not possible. There is no issue like this in Mohali campus.

Placements: The school tries its hardest to balance both the campuses equally, so no trend in placements is observed. The campus placements for the Mohali students this year was better compared to Hyderabad, but Hyderabad has done better in the past.

How good is IGNOU?

HP
Harshita Poona Posted On : October 13th, 2022
Studied at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

To be honest, IGNOU is an undesirable university in India. Don't believe those who claim that "it's the best open university" and other such nonsense. They don't give a damn about you, your future, or your time. When you go to the regional center, they tell you to go to the IGNOU headquarters. And the office of concern in the headquarter of Ignou will tell you to go to the post office, and the post office will tell you to bring the dispatch number from the headquarters of IGNOU, and they will tell you that the regional center will provide the dispatch number of the book but it would not get into your hands even at the end.

IGNOU is the worst open university; they value the number of students over the quality of education. They do nothing to help students, and IGNOU is just a big scam run by undeserving people and goons. It is strongly advised to avoid IGNOU. AMU and Jamia are far superior for open studies.

What is your deep review of KLE Society's KLE Institute of Technology, in all aspects?

PD
Prashant Desai Posted On : July 5th, 2021
B.E in ECE from K.L.E Institute of Technology, Hubballi (2015)

My brother was a graduate of the same college and as per his experience, the college has a really good and amicable atmosphere. Infrastructure and lab facility-wise as well it is quite decent. As far as the syllabus and academics are concerned, the college strictly adheres to VTU regulations.

The college is also trying to do its best for placements. But, as a student, you also need to shoulder the responsibility and utilize the opportunities provided to you by the placement cell. You might face some hurdles as the college is affiliated with VTU. Your marks might suffer a little too.

There are quite a few drawbacks to the college. When it comes to placement interviews, you might have to go to BVB College at Pool Campus where there are always a large number of students accumulated. Additionally, most of the students selected are from KLE Tech, not KLEIT. Moreover, many of the companies that visit the college are software companies. So if you are a student from EC, EE, Civil or Mechanical engineering, your chances of being placed in your field are a little less.

A lot of people will also tell you that the degree from VTU holds a lot of importance, but this is not always true.

Overall, the college also has quite a few places to improve upon. They need to provide at least 10 campus placements in the 7th and 8th semesters for each branch. The college has a high package of INR 3.75 lakhs per annum with an average package of INR 1.80 lakhs per annum. Thus, while the college is good faculty-wise, it is not that great placement-wise.

What are your reviews of Maharaja Surajmal Institute, Delhi, for a BBA?

CR
Chandrakanta Ray Posted On : May 21st, 2021
BBA from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (2020)

One of my friends studied there and according to him and his classmates it isthe worst institute to pursue a BBA degree.

Below are the points mentioned which will prove why they have such an aversion towards this institute:

  • Attendance is the major issue. You need to maintain at least 75% attendance. The professors can detain you at 74% attendance.
  • There are only two streams - BBA (General) and BBA (Banking & Insurance).
  • There are a total of six subjects in each semester. The faculty is not so good.
  • Mugging up is better than understanding the topic.
  • The infrastructure of the institute is outdated. The top floor is the administrative block, and the ground floor is for the campus.
  • No enthusiasm is shown for extra-curricular activities.

The college environment is a mix of decent students and dull students from various schools. MAIT and other below-average colleges conduct the seminars. The college timing is from 8:10-1:30, with a 20 minutes break at 11:00. There are six classes in a day. It feels similar to a school.

What is your review of IIIT Nuzvid?

SK
Simran Kaur Posted On : May 15th, 2021
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering, Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies(2016)

The facilities are quite good but you will not find smart graduates here. The classrooms are good with 3-star accommodation. Everything including the notices is sent online.

  • A peculiar thing that you will notice is that everyone here uses Linux as an operating system including Fedora, Ubuntu, and Zorin.
  • There are no hard copy textbooks and it is a smart campus with no electrical lines seen anywhere.
  • In your first year, you will do well, plus there is no entrance exam to gain admission.
  • Infrastructure-wise, the college is good. It was mainly started to boost village students to gain exposure to higher education.
  • It also gives an option of 6 years of free education to prevent girls from getting married too early.
  • There are also free food and hostel facilities for underprivileged students. However, the main drawback is that it could shrink the mindset of many students by making them complacent.
  • You will also find really good faculty that will help you secure a job later. Most lecturers here are individuals who have done well in their subjects.
  • Underprivileged students also get the opportunity to access movies and the internet.

Overall, it is a good place but most students end up being intelligent and not street smart here.

What are some reviews of ITM Navi Mumbai?

AG
Anshuman Gupta Posted On : March 12th, 2021
B.Com at Janki devi memorial college, Delhi University (2018)

It is about your lifetime career and not just a degree or an uncertain job profile. So, check every aspect of yourself that you want or what you don't want to do. Then precisely balance the pros and the cons and make the right decision.

First, evaluate yourself and ask yourself what kind of work you prefer or what is your comfort zone (Sales, HR, Banking sector sales, Core finance) and then check which college profile is good for you.

Do not judge any college just by its ranking or advertise over high claims; as presenting everything in an exaggerated manner is very normalizing in India. If possible visit the campus by yourself or make a LinkedIn profile to chat with alumni (not current students) to get a clear picture of after placement job stability.

Deloitte, PwC, SBI, KPMG, E&Y

Do not run behind the annual CTC package otherwise, you would be in unfathomable depth with your bank loan burden and uncertain job profile as CTC may be seen to be high but your in-hand salary may be surprising, so always check the average 'in hand salary' or ask for advance salary'

For the core finance job profile, it is good to have at least 55 to 60 percent in graduation according to MNC criteria, and you should try through higher CAT or MAT for top tier 1 college mainly for this. For core marketing profile also need to work hard for entrance score (at least 97 onwards Mat). Also, it can reduce your education expenses by just 1.6 lakh in top government colleges.

You must review the fee structure (internship-food-stay, stipend, laptop, dress, industrial visit, and so on). If you have an interest to become a commercial bank manager or being an IT manager to control the software workforce team, but you are forced towards banking field sales or IT software corporate sales, check the job profile if it is your cup of tea or not.

What is your review about NIT Jamshedpur?

AP
Arjita Pathak Posted On : May 10th, 2021
B.Tech (Hons.) from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2018)

My friend recently graduated from NIT Jamshedpur. Here is her review.

Location: The campus is located in Adityapur, surrounded by industries. It is a bit away from Tatanagar Railway Station. Since Jamshedpur doesn’t have an airport the best way to reach the campus is from Ranchi via NH-33.

Infrastructure-wise: Both the hostels and the computer centers are revamped. The main buildings of the campus are still under further development but are expected to be in maintenance soon. However, the mega hostels, known as J & K, are an enhanced sight of the campus.

Academics

  • The quality of professors or the methodology of their teaching is quite not up to the mark. Few professors of the institute somewhat still follow the old pedagogy and are sometimes not cooperative. On contrary, the newly appointed Ad-hoc faculties are supportive and are willing to guide students.
  • Students of the institute perform well in competitive examinations. Many made it to IITs, IIMs, or various international institutes as well.
  • The Central Workshop and laboratories, substantially Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Metallurgical are not quite well maintained.

Placement Reports:

A few major recruiting companies are (in respective branches) as follows.

  • CSE: Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Oracle
  • ECE: Amazon, Oracle Finance, Wipro, Mahindra Comviva
  • EEE: Tata Steel, JSW Steel, L&T, BPCL
  • ME: Tata Motors, L&T, Tata Steel, BPCL
  • MME: JSW Steel, Vedanta, Tata Metaliks, Tata Steel
  • CE: Simplex, L&T
  • PIE: Tata Hitachi, JK Tyre, JK Paper, Tata Motors

FIITJEE, Rao Academy, Career Point, etc, are examples of coaching institutes that recruited as well. The highest package received was 30 LPA while the average salary was 12 LPA

Extracurricular Activities:

The TechnoManagement fest, Ojass, and Cultural fest, Culfest are the major events of the institute. There are several automobile teams as well, like Team Phoenix, the aircraft team; Team Rays, the hybrid car team and Team Daksh, Off road car team.

This is the in-depth scenario of the institute.
