There is nothing called a good CGPA. CHPA depends on what you are willing to do afterwards.
For a job: As far as placements are concerned, anything above 7 or 7.5 will fetch you a decent job. 8+ will get you even better jobs in flagship companies.
For higher studies: If you want to pursue higher studies, much more is considered than just CGPA. Some of these factors are 10 and 12 marks, GPA and work experience.
So an 8+ GPA will get you both a good job and colleges. But it’s not the sole factor. It all comes down to how much efforts you are willing to put.

It takes a month, mostly to get your transcripts. Even though the Online Transcripts methods of Anna University have been in place for more than a year, they still refer to it as a Pilot process that just officially started. The process takes between 15 and 30 days, depending on the importance assigned by the authorities. So, always be cautious and apply at least three months in advance so that you can remain calm.
However, courier fees are quite high. India Post accepts international shipments and is less expensive than DHL and FedEx. It is preferable to visit the Controller of Examinations' office rather than apply online. However, this method is best suited for outstation students, particularly those from Tamil Nadu or any Southern states.
There is no way to tell which are the top 10 colleges under Anna University as there is no official ranking of them. Check the following list of such colleges:
The list is not based on any rankings and rather a general list of top colleges.
One of my relatives happened to choose SSN. She has visited the campuses of both the colleges namely, Anna University and SSN. She told me that SSN was way ahead of AU in many aspects. Some amazing features of SSN are:
Amazing infrastructure with top notch Wi-Fi facilities
Diverse crowd which helps you get more exposure
SSN does not force its students to attend classes
SSN emphasises on the overall development of its students and fulfilling their dreams
Good hostel facilities
My relative completed her M.E. from SSN and went to CEG to pursue PhD. She regrets this decision a lot. She had listed so many shortcomings of CEG. Some of them have been listed below.
Lack of proper sanitation facilities
No emphasis on extracurricular activities or club activities
Lack of transport facilities
So SSN focuses more on quality rather than quantity.
VIT Vellore is better. It is among the top engineering colleges in the region. It has a wonderful campus, good infrastructure, and a decent placement record. The departmental laboratories are well-equipped with rare equipment such as AFM, STEM, XRD, etc. VIT has a digital library with a huge collection.
The highest CTC offered during VIT Vellore placements 2022 was INR 75 LPA. Paypal, DE Shaw, and Dyte were some of the major recruiters to take part in the placement drive. The placements are especially good for branches such as CS, ECE, IT, Mechanical, etc.
If you follow these guidelines, passing the semester exams offered by Anna University will be relatively simple for you.
Always study from the required textbooks for the specific course as outlined by the university. Avoid buying regional books.
Give yourself some time to get ready for Part-A. (2 marks). The majority of students lose grades in this area. The majority of students prepare Part B and attempt Part-A using an idea from the questions they prepared for Part B, or they simply attempt the questions without having any kind of plan. It is preferable to prepare for Part-A separately.
Grades are raised by internal marks. For instance, if your internal mark is 20 and your written exam score was 89 out of 100, you would receive an S.
Using the test questions from the previous year will also be beneficial.
To get good grades, your answers must be presented neatly and written clearly.
To demonstrate to the examiner that you have a thorough understanding of the concept, try to include diagrams, flowcharts, examples, and equations in your responses.
First, try the questions you are most familiar with and can confidently answer. Avoid overwriting the answers.
Yes, always go for revaluation. Chances are you will get better marks after revaluation and clear your score.
Some tips to consider while attempting your revaluation exam are:
Fill more than 35 pages
Attempt at least 5 questions that carry 2 marks
For 16 marks questions, write your answers pointwise
The 2 marks questions carry a lot of value and therefore you should write accurate answers for them.
Overall you need to study well to clear your revaluation.
You can try visiting the additional controller of examination page, where you can potentially find your results by logging in with your credentials.
If you want to apply using the Anna university form for a duplicate, it will cost money. You must take a DD and send that with your form, and it will arrive at your address in 30 to 35 days. Previous semester results in mark sheet provided by your own institutions.
