NIT Trichy is better than NIT Calicut. But the CSE department of NIT Calicut is better than all NITs. The placement of CSE is better. You can choose any course according to your interest.

One of my friends studies in the NIT Calicut CSE department, and students get a decent placement there. The highest package offered to students at NIT Calicut is INR 49.75 LPA while the average package is INR 11.58 LPA. CSE students easily get internship opportunities in good companies which gives them pre-placement offers. 

If you are curious about the hostel life of a girl’s NIT Calicut then here are few details. 

1. NIT Calicut hostel rules are strict specifications for first year students.
2. In the first year, 4-5 students will live in one room, second and third-year students get two roommates and final year students get single occupancy. 
3. There are four messes in NIT Calicut, and one of them is pure-veg. Its mess food is better than other institutes such as IITs and NITs. It also has a night mess opened from 9 to 12.

Therefore, the NIT Calicut CSE department is good. After you get promoted in the second year, you will start enjoying your campus stay. The campus is also beautiful. The Calicut climate is also good, most of the month it is hot and rains in one semester. So, you can choose CSE if you're passionate about it.

The placement cell of NIT Calicut is good and is equal to other IITs. The non-Indian companies offer more than 28 LPA to freshers unlike the Indian companies. So there always remains a misunderstanding among candidates about the salary package offered. They used to think most of the companies offer a 40 LPA salary package, but these only include the companies in the US. Even Google India, Codenation, Directi offer not more than 24 LPA to the students. Based on these salary packages offered we can see that placements at NIT Calicut are really good.

• NIT Warangal is in close proximity to Hyderabad city, which gives a location advantage to commute. Also, you will have better placement opportunities since Hyderabad is an IT hub.

In between NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy, and NIT Surathkal, you should choose the institute in which you are getting your favorite branch. But, all of these NITs are far ahead of NIT Calicut. So, choose wisely.

The campus life of NIT Calicut is quite good compared to other institutes, but cannot be considered as a campus with excellent facilities. The campus life mostly depends on how you want to spend your years and cope up with the pressure and life altogether. A generalized overview of NIT Calicut is described below in points.

• The campus of NIT Calicut is not too huge, with all major buildings nearby to each other. Only the Mega boy’s hostel and Ladies hostel is situated at a separate residential campus. It usually takes 10-15 minutes to commute inside the campus.
• The campus has enough greenery, but with a lot of rain. There is a problem with water and so, heat is an issue to be survived.
• There is no such happening place around the campus, except the bus stop and an area known as Kattangal, with a few restaurants and shops. Being about 40 minutes away from the city, students usually take a bus to the city or visit the restaurants nearby.
• After 9 PM, girls usually don’t prefer going out roaming around the campus. A strict curfew is maintained from 7 PM, in which 1st-year boys maintain the discipline. Senior boys have their own tricks to roam around anytime. The college is a little discriminative about these rules, but such situations are changing slowly.
• Classes run for variable durations and depend upon the department and year. Some have classes for less than 4 hours and some about 6-7 hours. 
• The hostels are NIT Calicut are quite old, with the mega hostels being comparatively newer. Even the quality of rooms and internet facility is better in Mega hostels. 
• The messes are of various types in the hostels. Seniors get to switch messes. The quality of food at mess depends upon the contractor. 
• Coming to sports facilities, there is an average football field, a rocky hockey field, a tennis court, a volleyball court, and 2 outdoor basketball courts. There is an auditorium with 2 table tennis boards and 3 badminton courts. The football team of the college has done well in recent years.
• The labs are quite well equipped, with good internet. The software systems lab has the best internet on the campus and is open to all students. All the hostels have sufficient internet facilities too. There is a quiet library, a study center, and a digital library that is free from chaos and peaceful enough to sit and study.

Among all, students on the campus learn to adjust to circumstances, make friends, explore the environment and make the best use of available resources in NIT Calicut. The campus life is all about fun and interests, and NIT Calicut is a place worth it.

One of my friends pursued his undergraduate studies at NIT Calicut. I will try to give an insight into the EEE department at NIT Calicut based on the things I heard from my friend. 

Student Crowd:

NIT Calicut has an approximate 50% home state selection policy. So, almost half of the student base is from Kerala. Other than that, there is a major portion of the other half from Telegu states and some from Northern India. So, very few students are from other South Indian and East Indian states.

Faculty:

• Most professors are extremely strict in class, attendance, and evaluation. 
• Most professors of EEE have good teaching capabilities and conceptual knowledge. There is information about faculties and their experiences on the college website.

Laboratories:

The labs in the electrical engineering department are quite decent, and up to the required standard, with some faulty machines too.

Overall, the EEE department at NIT Calicut can be considered a branch with enough resources and strict discipline.
