What is your review of FPM (Fellow Programme in Management), IIM Ahmedabad?

KL
Kareena Luthra Posted On : December 7th, 2022
PhD from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (Graduated 2017)

IIMA's FPM program is unique and distinguished. It is a difficult program that puts your motivation to the test. You will complete two years of coursework, followed by a comprehensive examination, before submitting a research proposal and defending your thesis. It is a research program that should not be compared to traditional PG programs such as PGP/ MBA.

The duration is roughly 4-5 years, but it can be extended depending on your effort and luck. There are no tuition fees, and the institute will provide you with a generous stipend for the next five years. Following FPM, one can pursue an academic career or work in the industry. The degree provides you with numerous options, freedom, and opportunities.

To summarize, it is an excellent program that is difficult to complete. Even after passing through the hallowed portals, the journey to completion is difficult yet rewarding.

What is your review of Goa Institute of Management?

MF
Maliha Fatima Posted On : April 16th, 2021
Studied Post Graduate Diploma in Management at Goa Institute of Management (2020)

To rate a specific school, there are five parameters to be seen -

  • Faculty & Curriculum - The curriculum at all the B-schools is more or less similar. The difference lies in the type of faculty. The faculty-student ratio at GIM is 17:1 and the faculty is undoubtedly flattering.
  • Peer Group – The cut-off for GIM’s CAT and XAT is nearly 85-88 marks. This attracts students who have a lot of talent and potential and belong to different backgrounds. The age barrier is not much for GIM as well. Therefore, GIM provides one of the best peers for further studies.
  • Infrastructure – Goa Institute of Management has one of the best campuses across all West India and it is considered as the state of the art.
  • Industry Interaction and Placements – The college offers an average package of almost 9.5 lakhs and the highest package goes up to 25.6 lakhs and that is why the placements seem satisfactory.
  • Alumni -With alumnus settled in different industries with different portfolios, the Goa Institute of Management is considered satisfactory in this aspect too.
  • Other Factors – Goa Institute of Management is accredited by AACSB and it also has an international exchange program collaborated with the University of Antwerp, Warsaw University of Technology Business School, Poland and Hochschule, Germany.

GIM also offers an internship which is in collaboration with the University of Antwerp. It is called The Joint International Internship Seminar (JIIS). The intensive Joint International Internship Seminar is a two-week program. This program is held every year in September.

Students that belong to Belgium and those of GIM work together on the practical projects in Goa. The program gives an opportunity to the students to have a work experience

GIM also has foreign language courses for its full-time students. These courses are offered in French, Portuguese, German, and Spanish. They are offered in collaboration with Alliance Francaise De Goa, Instituto Camões, Panjim and Indo–German Educational and Cultural Society and Communicare, Goa respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that GIM is one of the best Tier 3 colleges in India.

Is a Ph.D. from IGNOU worth it valuable?

AM
Arshit Munot Posted On : October 18th, 2022
Studied Master of Arts in Political Science at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

Ph.D. has its own value, and IGNOU is the world's largest university, so it most certainly has value. There are private universities, such as Manipal, that have their own individual value in terms of employment.

The question is how much time you will spend learning and researching the field you intend to pursue. There is no need to be concerned about the doctorate value if you finish learning the subject of your choice to the best of your ability. You should earn your Ph.D. rather than purchasing one.

You must strive for excellence, and success will follow you.

What are the disadvantages of IGNOU?

AC
Ankush Garg Chintu Posted On : October 17th, 2022
B.A in History, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

The main disadvantage of IGNOU is that the administration does not even listen to the student's problems. Every Regional Center has a student support desk, but it is not there to help students, but to torture them. The regional center IGNOU university staff does not treat students as human beings. Some claim that IGNOU has standard study material, but the 20% figure printed in the IGNOU book is incorrect.

The amount of Rs. 750 is required when you go for a re-evaluation of your exam paper if you do not receive the expected marks. Normal university fees are Rs. 150.

These are the main drawbacks of IGNOU distance and online learning.
