How is chemical engineering in PDPU compared to chemical engineering in Nirma University?

SL
Sachin Lakhani Posted On : January 19th, 2022
B.Tech Chemical Engineering, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar (2020)

According to the reviews online, here are some of the facts about both these colleges, and which one will be the better choice for pursuing chemical engineering.

  • Nirma University’s cut off is higher than PDPU.
  • Nirma is a much more established and experienced college than PDPU.
  • Both colleges have highly qualified and cooperative faculty members.
  • The laboratories of PDPU are much more well maintained and upgraded than Nirma, as it is much younger compared to Nirma.
  • The labs in PDPU are all facilitated with modern and updated machinery, required for practicals.
  • PDPU has a complete air-conditioned campus, whereas in Nirma some classes are not fully air conditioned.
  • PDPU being a comparatively newer institution has better, well maintained infrastructure than Nirma.
  • PDPU gives students the proper industrial exposure. They conduct events like ‘International Conference on Chemical Industry (ICCI)’, which happens only in the Chemical Department, no other department has organised a grand event in the last 5 years.
Categories Nirma University PDPU
Course Fee INR 7.24 lakh INR 9.73 lakh
Placement Percentage 70% 80%
Highest CTC 13 LPA 8-12 LPA
Average CTC 6-7 LPA 7-7.5 LPA
Recruiting Companies Reliance, L&T, Worley Engineering, Jubilant Life Sciences, etc. Super Gas, GSFC, Thermax, DCM Shriram, etc.

Therefore, it is suggested that you go for PDPU if fees are not your primary concern. Students at PDPU will definitely get better opportunities for chemical engineering than Nirma. Even if Nirma is a more experienced institution, the newer approach of PDPU will always help you get accustomed to the functioning in today’s industries.

Where do I get a PDF of the engineering chemistry book for the Anna University exams?

PS
Prabu Sundarm Posted On : December 16th, 2022
B.E in Mechanical Engineering, Government College of Engineering (An Autonomous Institution affiliated to Anna University) , Salem (Graduated 2014)

Being a student of Anna University, you should first consult your Chemistry teacher for the study materials. You can also ask your seniors to recommend some books for the same. There is a chance that they might inform you of a PDF that will help you get good marks.

Apart from this, some websites that provide PDFs are

  1. Library Genesis

  2. PDF Drive - Search and download PDF files for free.

Both these websites will help you gain access to the required PDFs. Another simple option is to simply browse google and look for the pdf of the book.

Which one should I choose, NIT Jalandhar for chemical or NIT Silchar in CS?

AT
Abhishek Thakur Posted On : December 5th, 2022
MCA from National Institute of Technology, Warangal (Graduated 2014)

Your choice should depend on your own interests and preferences. Make the choice based on your own preferences. Consider factors like closeness to your home, Coaching/guidance for GRE and alumni network.

In my opinion, CSE in NIT Silchar is a better choice.

Pros-

  • The branch and the course itself are very popular and demanding. Will give you amazing results in the future.

  • Campus placements are the best part of NIT Silchar.

  • The infrastructure and facilities are top-notch

  • The crowd here is qualitatively better hence the competition is also better

  • Amazing extracurricular facilities

  • Silchar is well connected to major cities in India through rail and Air networks.

  • The best feature of this college is its Start-up Centre which encourages entrepreneurship culture.

Cons-

  • A little less developed than metropolitan cities

  • You will lack the benefits of a popular title like IIT

NIT Silchar will help you realize your goals and be your constant support. Hence, rather than gaining mere tag benefits, you should focus on your career.

What should I take, BITS Goa CS or IIT Roorkee (civil or chemical branch)?

NB
Nitin Bhatia Posted On : April 15th, 2023
Studied at BITS Goa

The job opportunities in both Chemical and Civil are very limited and it’s also difficult to switch domains later. The core opportunities consist of more of a blue collared job. One can go for Government jobs if interested.

Go for CS in BITS Goa if you are looking for excellent placement opportunities or higher education. CS provides excellent opportunities in terms of higher studies and research work. But if you are adamant about Civil or Chemical, go only if you are genuinely interested, and that too after in-depth research about the nature of work.

The only drawback of joining BITS Goa is the exorbitant fees which might be a major issue for many. Apart from this the branch is very promising and is expected to grow more so. It’s recommended to contact working professionals in the field once and enquire about career prospects. Also, go for CS only after gaining a basic level of coding skills.

Which is better: chemical engineering at LDCE or MSU Baroda?

NS
Neetu Singh Posted On : December 29th, 2022
Visiting Faculty at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2016–present)

Let’s do a basic comparison between the two universities first.

Accreditation: MSU is an autonomous university whereas LDCE comes under ACPC

Infrastructure: MSU has an upper hand in this aspect as its infrastructure is way better than LDCE.

Marking pattern: MSU follows a very tough marking scheme and therefore makes it difficult for students to get good CGPAs.

Placements: The placements of both universities are equally good. I have tabulated the placement statistics below to draw a clearer comparison.

Particulars

MSU

LDCE

Number of Companies

30+

148

Number of Students placed

90

787

Highest CTC

INR 4 LPA

INR 10 LPA

Top Recruiters

Standard Radiators Pvt. Ltd., Caparo India Pvt. Ltd., Nayara Energy

Accenture, Cairn India, Vedanta Group, MG Motors, Adani Group, etc

At LDCE offers were made from industries like Oil, Gas, Power, Fertilizer, IT sector, Automobile, Chemical, Petrochemical, etc.

Personally, I feel overall MSU is a better option. It has some additional features that set it apart from LDCE. These include

  • Much better hostel facilities than LDCE
  • 3 major technological and social events are held every year that boost your extracurricular activities.
  • The faculty at MSU is top notch with great learned and experienced professors.

So Chemical Engineering at MSU Baroda is a better option.
