What should be my decision to join if I have 2 opportunities, VIT Chennai ECE or Amrita Bangalore CSE groups?

AM
Aparna Madhusudan Posted On : July 19th, 2021
Studied at Vellore Institute of Technology

ECE and CSE are two different departments, providing separate career opportunities. VIT Chennai and Amrita University Bangalore offer decent placement to students in these departments.

The points below give a brief overview of both the choices:

  • In CSE, there are excellent package offers in institutes like Amrita and VIT, thus increasing your chance of getting a good salary at the beginning of your career.
  • ECE is a stream of a kind, which has its own charm. In ECE, students grow slowly with time and earn decent salaries, provided they are passionate about the field of work.
  • ECE in VIT Chennai is a great department, having a world-class infrastructure. The curriculum is at par with the industry needs. The professors at VIT Chennai are connected to the industry and other academic institutes to aid in research.
  • All major electronics companies visit the campus of VIT Chennai for placement. Almost 20% of the students in the department get a package above 10 LPA in general from companies like Samsung, TI, Nutanix, etc.
  • A major percentage of about 70-80% of students in ECE at VIT Chennai get a package between 5-8 LPA. Companies like Cisco, Intel, Wipro VLSI, Arista Networks offer salaries in this range. There are also some non-tech companies like Deloitte, E&Y, Bank of America, PWC, Wells Fargo, etc that recruit students from ECE.
  • In VIT Chennai, there are very few students who opt for job offers in service-based companies like TCS, Accenture, Infosys, CTS, etc.

Therefore, both ECE at VIT Chennai and CSE at Amrita Bangalore are good options. It is the choice of the student as to what excites him/her the most and opts for a degree in the same.

CUSAT or VIT, which is better?

TK
Tina Kumari Posted On : February 12th, 2021
Cochin University Of Science and Technology (2016-2020)

Both of these colleges are good. VIT is the best private engineering college in India. Whereas CUSAT is also a reputed institute. CUSAT is a government college, and VIT is a private college. Thereby, you will get a better facility in VIT rather than in CUSAT.

Hostel Facilities: (Winning Institution - VIT)

However, the hostel facilities are also not up to the mark in CUSAT. But VIT offers good hostel accommodation. But VIT charges a lot for hostels.

Course Fee & Infrastructure: (Winning Institution - VIT)

  • The education fees for entire engineering courses in VIT are around 16-18 lakhs, including food, lodging, and education fees. In comparison CUSAT charges around 8 lakhs for the same. Thus, VIT is quite costly.
  • But it can be mentioned that VIT is far better than CUSAT. The better infrastructural facilities in VIT assist the student in their entire courses. Whereas in CUSAT, college infrastructure is not like VIT.

Placement: (VIT ~ CUSAT)

You will get good exposure in both of these institutes. Placement records of both of these colleges are also outstanding. If you work hard, you can bad a decent salary package from the campus placement from any of these colleges.

The table below gives a brief overview of both institutes.

If you want to get better infrastructural facilities and good food and lodging, then you should go for VIT. But CUSAT is more affordable and it is also a good choice with excellent placement statistics.

NM
Nupur Mukherjee Posted On : October 12th, 2020
Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering & Automobile Engineering, Nirma University (2018)

Nirma University has been graded ‘A’ by NAAC. It has also ranked 13th for MBA by Outlook India in 2020. Apart from that, it has ranked 10th among the top private engineering colleges by Times in 2019 and 15th by India Today in 2019. VIT, on the other side, is an ‘A’ graded university (by NAAC’s evaluation) and has ranked 15th among the top engineering institutions by NIRF.

Since both these institutes are reputed, it can get tricky to choose either one of them. Here are some of the most important factors that can help you in making the decision.

Admission:

  • Aspiring students who want to take admission at Nirma University for CSE have to qualify for JEE Main and GUJCET. The course fee remains around 7 Lakh.

  • Those who want to pursue CSE at VIT, have to qualify for VITEEE and the course fee is 7 Lakh.

Placement:

Nirma University:

  • Top recruiters who offer placements to Nirma University students include Dabur, Daikun, Essar, Ingram, Infosys, IBM, Saint Gobain, Sun Pharma, Samsung, Morgan Stanley, Reliance, and many more.

  • Top recruiters are Cognizant, TCS, Wipro, Accenture, Infosys, Intel, Bank of America, PWC, and more.

  • More than 90% of students get placements every year as per the records.

Other factors: Apart from these factors, other factors like infrastructure, faculty, etc. usually are the same for both these institutes. Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls inside the campuses.

These are some of the major factors that you should be considering while making the final decision.
