I have scored 87 percentile in Cat and converted IIFM, BHOPAL but my parents want me to go for a govt. job like banking, SSC etc. What should I choose?

Pgdfm from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal (2020)

Parents usually want to see their children getting stable and secure jobs. A job which is nearer to their house and they live their life comfortably.

But if you are someone who is ambitious and wants to achieve big achievements in life, then a government and baking job might not give you the opportunity you are looking for. Several people get trapped in routine government jobs. And never take required risks to improve their life.

You have a good qualification, and if you believe in yourself and have enough confidence then talk to your parents. Tell them why you don’t want to go into a banking or government job. And how they can lend their support in finding a dream job for you. You can also improve your convincing skill by convincing your parents. As convincing others is an art, start that from your parents.

Therefore, always listen to yourself about what you want to do. And always learn from your success and failure.

Can I get an HR role of I pursue pgdfm from iifm Bhopal?

SD

PGDFM from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal (2020)

The Indian Institute of Forest Management has courses with specialized choices of subjects related to Forestry. For pursuing a career in Human resources, IIFM may not be a very good choice, but it is always possible to do the same.

The points below state how the institute is not quite suitable for an HR-based role.

  • The curriculum and subjects taught are related to domains like environment, management of natural forests, development, sustainability, conservation, and livelihood, etc. So, even being a management institute, IIFM is not quite suitable for the development of students in general management subjects like HR, finance, sales, and marketing, etc.
  • There are some subjects related to basic management but are mostly on the environment and its conservation. But, there are several students of IIFM presently working as HR managers of different companies. Therefore, it depends on the choice of interest of the candidate.

Therefore, choosing a career in HR being at IIFM is not a wise decision, but not an impossible one. It is the choice of the candidate as to where he/she wants to land in the industry.

How is the Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, and what is the admission procedure?

ND

PGDFM Environmentalism, Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal (2018)

If you are interested in studying wildlife, flora, and fauna of a region, rural development, environmental conservation, climate change, economic empowerment, forest sustenance, etc then IIFM Bhopal is the best one to go to in India.

It's a niche market if you see it one way. But if you're really passionate about the aforementioned fields then, you can make a thriving career out of it.

  • The admission procedure is similar to other B-schools. A valid score in CAT/XAT is required. The institute will shortlist based on the score.
  • You will have to keep checking the official website for the shortlisting announcement. The final steps will include WAT and personal interview; if you perform well, You'd easily get in.
  • You will only be called on the basis of the percentile scored in the exams. Then the WAT will test your writing skills and the interview will finalize your position. The final test score will be an admixture of the three.

A regular MBA from any other college will be better than IIFM's but for forest management, it's definitely the best India can offer.

IIFM at Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal

IIFM WAT topics are mostly abstract. For the PI section, the most common question is ‘Why IIFM?’ You need to have a clear answer for why this course fits into your life’s aspirations, and why are you a good fit for the program. Other than this, most of the questions asked in the PI section will revolve around your background, your past academics, and your SOP. There can be some questions on environment-related current affairs as well.

If your sole aim is to make a career or a job in the field of wildlife and forestry, then IIFM Bhopal would be a good choice. The institute is known for its focus on sustainability and natural resource management.

As far as CAT score is concerned, IIFM Bhopal considers CAT scores for admission into its PGDFM program. The safe score to get a call for the program would depend on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the cutoff set by the institute for that year. However, a score of around 85-90 percentile can be considered a safe score for getting a call from IIFM Bhopal.

It is important to note that while CAT scores are important for getting a call from IIFM Bhopal, the institute also considers other factors such as academic record, work experience, and performance in the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Therefore, it is important to perform well in all aspects of the admission process to increase your chances of getting admission into the institute.
