Are the questions in Pearson's guide to IIM INDORE IPMAT easier than the questions in the exam paper?

AG
Aditi Ghose Posted On : August 28th, 2021
IPM from Indian Institute of Management Indore (2020)

Yes, the question in Pearson’s guide to IIM Indore IPMAT is easier than the actual paper. As a matter of fact, the author has been continuously revising the content every year as per the difficulty levels. One of my friends had prepared for his IPMAT from two books, which are as follows.

Pearson's Guide to IIM Indore IPM:

  • The questions in this book are a bit easier than the actual IPM entrance exam.
  • The book helps to face a lot of challenges in cracking the questions from each topic. It will help in getting out of the comfort zone in quant.
  • After learning all the basics, the book will help in revising the topics at a good level. This is an overall good book for preparing for IPM.

GK publication's IIM Indore IPM:

  • The questions in this book are of basic level. It is not a book of the standards of the IPM exam but you can practice various topics from different sections at a basic level.

But for preparation of IPM don’t stick to a single book. You can collect previous year’s question papers to get a better overview of the examination.

How is the mathematics department of NIT Jalandhar for MSc students?

HY
Himanshu Yadav Posted On : December 8th, 2022
Integrated M.S from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (Graduated 2020)

The Mathematics department of NIT Jalandhar is newly established and so not at par with the M.Tech. department. The faculty is not that experienced either and you will find assistant teachers more. Most of the NITs don't have faculties of varied expertise for the MSc program. Moreover, placements are also just average. Most of the students apply for teaching jobs or Ph.D. So opt MSc in Mathematics only if it is your last choice. But if you have already joined it or are adamant about joining it then these tips will help you make the most of the course:

  • Keep in touch with the Mathematics fraternity around the world

  • Attend Mathematics seminars and conferences which will give you a better understanding of the subject and its applications.

  • Initiate things on your own during college seminars, departmental events, or technical fests.

  • Lastly, focus on your academics

You can make the most out of the resources of this department even if it is lacking in many aspects.

Is Goa Institute of Management good for a PGDM in operations?

SM
Subhashree Meher Posted On : March 2nd, 2023
Studied Post Graduate Diploma in Management at Goa Institute of Management (2020)

One of my friends is majoring in HR but has opted for numerous positions in IT Operations. According to her, the course is very well designed and is industry relevant. Speaking specifically about Operations, the electives under it are directly related to the industry such as

  • Business Analysis
  • Big Data Analytics (now a specialization in itself at GIM)
  • Project Management
  • Supply Chain Management

The pedagogy comprises a case-based approach with special emphasis on recent trends in each specialization. The faculty is very experienced and has had enough exposure to the corporate world. On average, around 30-40 students specialize in Operation every year at GIM. The most common roles offered to students who are specialized in Operations are

  • Business Analyst
  • Consultant
  • Project Manager

So Goa Institute of Management is a very good option for PGDM in Operations.

One of my cousins studied at IIT Bhilai, he mentioned that as a student there, you will see a lot of lab facilities in the college.

ME Department

  • You will be working with the digital fabrication lab which is one of the biggest attractions at IIT Bhilai and also the main features of the college with a number of 3D printers.
  • You will also get wide knowledge on how to operate this equipment.
  • There are also various automation and DIY labs where there is equipment like CNC Machining, Moulding, and Laser Cutting.
  • These labs majorly work with the basics of Arduino and PLC.

CSE Department

  • There are about 40 different systems that have Windows and Linux distros installed.
  • These systems are well maintained with high speed internet connectivity.

EE department

  • There is one lab with a similar functioning computer lab with components like resistors, transistors, capacitors, inductors, printed circuit boards as well as multimeters, oscilloscopes, raspberry pi’s and integrated circuits and Arduino kits. These are well stocked here.

Although the IIT was established only about 4 years ago, it has definitely made some remarkable progress with regards to the lab facilities here. You will not feel a lack of facilities here.

Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (2018)

The entrance test for IIMC or AJKMCRC is not that tough and can be cracked with sufficient preparation.

For the preparation of the entrance test, here are a few points to consider.

  • Watching the news and following daily newspapers in detail, studying the process of news reading and writing, and applying it in practice.
  • Making a personal note about the facts and processes helps during preparation for entrance as well as an interview.
  • Practicing demo news reading will help in interview preparation.
  • Long term news is of greater significance and should be followed as much as possible.
  • Famous journalists and eminent people’s history are sources of questions asked.

For IIMC, application forms are made available in the month of April then admit cards are generated. The written test generally takes place in the fourth week of May and results are announced in June. Then, an approx time of 2 weeks is provided for interview preparation. Handmade notes help in preparation for the interview in this short period.

The interviewers are usually polite and calm and ask questions according to the capability of the candidate. You can clear the interview easily with proper preparation and presence of mind.

Does the college from where you did your under graduation really matter in selection process of IIM Ahmedabad?

CR
Chand Rajput Posted On : December 7th, 2022
MBA in Finance (college major), Indian Institutes of Management

To some extent, it matters. For instance, if you attended one of the top 20 colleges in your field, you will stand out.

Please keep in mind that the selection process is a way of finding students who are good at certain things. So you might be good at co-curricular or extracurricular activities that set you apart. It is possible to be overlooked if you have graduated from an average college. Because of your other qualities, the interviewers and admissions committee are interested in you.

When you look at any given batch of IIM students, you will notice that they come from a variety of backgrounds, talents, and colleges. Remember that not all IITians convert to IIMA, and not every IIMA student is an IITian.

How is the sports situation in IIT Patna or IIT Bhubaneswar? How is the coding culture in these institutions?

PB
Pranjal Bhargava Posted On : July 7th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Patna

Following are the highlights of both IIT Patna and IIT Bhubaneswar sports and coding activities:

Extracurricular Activities
  • IIT Patna offers students the opportunity to follow up on their passions, especially in sports. IIT Patna has allotted specific places to practice various sports, including cricket, volleyball, football, tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
  • IIT Patna Gymkhana was established as a student council of elected student representatives for the support and development of every student at IIT Patna.
  • IIT Bhubaneswar, on the other hand, gave students the opportunity to engage in sports like tennis, basketball, badminton, cricket, and football. But they do not encourage the students by conducting sports festivals. IIT Bhubaneshwar is comparatively weak in extra-curricular activities.
 Coding Culture
  • IIT Patna is leading IIT Ropar, especially in the Department of Computer Science and Electronics. IIT Patna is renowned for its multiple qualifications for the ACM ICPC World Finals. This showcases the excellent coding culture at IIT Patna. Last year, IIT Patna conducted 14 GSOC selections, which are the most among the IITs established in 2008.
  • IIT Bhubaneshwar is not really good at coding. Students who are interested in coding opt for other colleges. Still, the programming society named ‘Neuromancers’ is quite active in the college.
So, you can go with the option of IIT Patna for better exposure.

I’m confused in choosing between IIT Kharagpur (mathematics and computing) and IIT Indore or BHU (CS). Can anyone help in that?

Raktim Tarafdar Posted On : July 1st, 2023

It depends mainly on your core interest in the study. The field of Computer Science is vast and out of the blue, which ensures you multiple opportunities compared to mathematics and Computing. If you are interested in coding culture, then it is better to choose BHU for CSE.

The points given below will give more clarification about BHU.

Placement support - The recruiters from big companies, including HUL, RIL, KBR, Amazon, and so on. You will get the opportunity to sit with these companies and will be placed in high-salary jobs based on your talent in the CSE field. You also get the chance to impress with your GATE score here.

How is the GD-PI experience at IIM Rohtak?

VB
Vineeta Borah Posted On : January 18th, 2023
PGDM from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (Graduated 2018)

Because these institutes lack the resources to conduct their own selection process, all of the new IIMs use a Common Admission Process (CAP). If you have received calls from older IIMs, new IIMs will accept your scores from those institutes and you will not be required to take the CAP. Furthermore, there is no GD in CAP, only Written Ability Tests and Personal Interviews.

Many students who have taken the CAP exam say that the interviews are just like any other, except that the stakes are higher. The questions typically include an introduction, hobbies, questions about work experience and academics, and general knowledge questions in the case of freshers.
