Mining Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad (2020)

For branches related to Mining, Earth Science, and Petroleum, IIT Dhanbad is definitely the better option. The mining department of the institute is the best in the country.  IOCL, ESSEL, MECON, etc. are the major recruiters for the mining branch. The salary packages offered goes up to INR 15-20 LPA.

What should I carry to IIT Roorkee on first day?

SM
Soumyadeep Mahapata Posted On : April 17th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

On your first day at IIT Roorkee, it’s very important to carry all your academic documents, like mark sheets, identity proofs, and photographs. The registration process at IIT Roorkee is very tiresome so it’s better to be prepared.

Other essential items of daily use one need to bring to IIT Roorkee are a toothbrush, towel, clothes, and bed sheets. Bring a scientific calculator if you have one. There is no need to bring a mattress, dustbin, or broomstick as all this will be sold in a stall on the first day itself.

It’s advisable to pack light as everything is available in the market from pin to plane.

Most importantly pack a lot of motivation and passion before you come to IIT Roorkee!

How will a year gap after 2 years of work experience affect the chances of getting into JBIMS?

SB
Subhasis Bhunia Posted On : February 21st, 2023
MBA Finance & Marketing and Business Strategy, Woxsen University, Hyderabad (2021)

Any gap during your career needs to be justified adequately. The gap won’t affect your chances of getting a call as that is solely based on CET score, academic performance, extracurricular activities, and work experience. It is your personal interview that might face problems due to your gap.

The interviewer might assert that you can’t multitask or you don’t understand the importance of time as many students prepare while working. You need to note that the interviewer is not here to demotivate you or insult you. You need to give them a valid reason for your gap and if provided one, they might overlook it at once. The fact that you got a call and got shortlisted is enough justification for the gap.

Apart from your MBA preparation, they will inquire about the additional skills you acquired during that period. These may include any extracurricular activity, an internship, any specific skill or a new language you have learned, any freelancing or any course you got enrolled in. You can also be acquired about what you gained or learned from your gap period.

I don’t personally think a gap can limit your chances provided you offer a very convincing reason in the interview.

Is the Madras Institute of Technology located outer Chennai city?

VS
V R Sridharan Posted On : May 2nd, 2021
Studied at Madras Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu, India

Madras Institute of Technology is located at Chromepet. It is not quite outside of Chennai as other places, such as Vandaloor or Poonthamalli.

The Chromepet location has turned into one of the solid urban centers of Chennai. It holds historic Vetri theatre, Saravana stores, and all great national and international stores and great restaurants.

The newly planned bus station will be nearer to Chromepet than say Guindy or Anna Nagar. One of the distinct advantages is the Railway station which is practically built on MIT’s land. You can even reach Airport within 10 minutes of travel and Central Railway Station within 45 mins.

Do all the people with average academics get placed at IIMs, XLRI, MDI, SP Jain, FMS etc?

AD
Ankit Dasgupta Posted On : April 26th, 2023
studied Business Management at XLRI

While academic performance is an important factor in the placement process, it is not the only factor that determines whether a student gets placed at top B-schools such as IIMs, XLRI, MDI, SP Jain, and FMS. Many students with average academics have been able to secure good placements at these institutions.

Here are some factors that can influence a student's chances of getting placed at top B-schools:

  • Performance in B-School: While academic performance is important, recruiters also look for candidates who have demonstrated leadership skills, teamwork abilities, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. Participating in extracurricular activities, case competitions, and other events can help you develop these skills.
  • Industry Experience: If you have prior industry experience, it can give you an edge over other candidates. Recruiters value candidates who have a good understanding of the industry and can bring practical experience to the table.
  • Networking: Networking is an important part of the placement process. Building relationships with recruiters, alumni, and industry professionals can help you learn about job opportunities and secure interviews.
  • Preparation for Interviews: Preparing for interviews is crucial. Make sure you research the company, understand the job role, and prepare responses to common interview questions. Mock interviews and feedback sessions can also be helpful.
  • Market Conditions: Placements also depend on market conditions, economic factors, and other external factors that are beyond your control. Even students with excellent academic records may face challenges in a tough job market.

Overall, while academic performance is important, it is not the only factor that determines whether a student gets placed at top B-schools. By developing the necessary skills, gaining industry experience, networking, and preparing well for interviews, students with average academics can increase their chances of securing good placements at these institutions.
