Can we change our branch at VSSUT burla after first year?

Sayantani Barman Posted On : October 12th, 2023

Yes, you can change your branch at VSSUT Burla at the beginning of the third semester. A notice is circulated informing students willing to change their branch to apply for the same. You will have to mention your preferred order of the branches you wish to change to.

  • As per the rules, every branch can allow only a maximum of 10% of its strength. So, if a branch has 30 students, it can admit only 3 new students.
  • Also, the priority of processing the order is given based on the CGPA of two semesters. For instance, if you want to change your branch to CSE, with a CGPA of 9.1 the more students there are with better scores, the fewer chances you have.

Ultimately, branch change depends on your CGPA, the preference order of requested branches of people ahead of you, and the availability of seats.

In trial allotments I was waiting after 400 others for CSE CUSAT. What are my chances of getting admission there?

MB
Mansi Bhatnagar Posted On : February 23rd, 2024

CSE is the most sought out branch of CUSAT. Since you have 400 other candidates waiting ahead of you, your chances of getting CSE are very low. If you have applied for some other branches, you can wait for the results. Else, if CSE is your only choice, try some other good college. You can come for the spot round if getting into CUSAT is your dream.

Do people think institutes like FMS, XLRI, SP JAIN, and NITIE are giving tough competition to lower ranked IIMs?

AS

MBA from Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (2018)

New IIMs are far behind B-Schools such as FMS, SP JAIN, XLRI, and NITIE. These institutes score far ahead of new IIMs in terms of academics, peer group, brand value, and placements. These are among the most reputed B-Schools in the country and in many factors, these institutes score ahead of even older IIMs such as IIM A, IIM B, and IIM C.

Is there a rule of wearing formals at NIT Jamshedpur, or can I wear jeans, etc. in the first year?

SS

B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2020)

There is no specific rule regarding formal wear at NIT Jamshedpur. However, it is generally considered appropriate to dress in a professional manner, especially when attending classes or meetings with faculty members. Jeans and other casual clothing may be worn on campus. One of my friends there told me that this rule is just declared by the seniors who want to harass the juniors in some way as there aren't any official notices or announcements regarding that.

How long does it take to repay a loan of around 35 lakhs after doing a PGP from ISB Hyderabad/Mohali? Is it worth it?

SR
Shaurya Rathore Posted On : February 6th, 2023
Studied B. Tech from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2023)

To calculate the approximate time it will take to repay a loan of around 35 lakhs after doing a PGP from ISB Hyderabad or Mohali, let’s assume some numbers. That will make the calculation easy to understand.

Rate of Interest: 9.50%

Term of the moratorium: Duration of the course where you just pay the interest.

Loan repayment tenure: 7 years post moratorium period

EMI: Rs. 57,203.93

An EMI of INR 57,203.93 means a monthly salary of around INR 150000 or an annual package of INR 27 Lakhs is required. If you are confident that you will get placed with a similar package and can repay the loan easily go for it. One relevant thing you should consider is whether the knowledge you gained throughout the course is worth it afterward or not. I think only 35-40% of one’s salary should be used in repaying the loan. But that does not seem to be the case here. So in my opinion pursuing a higher education course won’t necessarily benefit you. In contrast, it may become a major issue due to the repayment of loans.
