Which is better, LNMIIT CSE or NIT Agartala CSE?
I feel LMNIIT CSE is a much better choice than NIT Agartala CSE provided that you have the financial means to get admission there. Here is why I feel it's better than NIT Agartala
- LMNIIT has a more updated and flexible curriculum than NIT Agartala.
- LMNIIT has a better crowd since the admissions are purely based on merit and there is no reservation policy.
- Many IT giants visit LMNIIT every year for placements which isn't the case at NIT Agartala as the job opportunities are limited there.
- Jaipur has better opportunities for preparation for competitive exams like CAT and GRE.
- LNMIIT is not a private college but a Public Private Partnership so you will avail the benefits of this high brand value in the industry.
So, is better to look beyond the NIT tag and choose LMNIIT because the tag does not matter much more than academics and placements.
Should I take the newly-formed ECE course in BITS, Goa?
Based on the reviews that I got from my friends at BITS Goa, I will suggest you take ECE, given the chance.
Well, it is true that ECE is new but the department for all the Electrical streams especially the ECE, ENI, and EEE is the same and so are the faculties. In fact, half of the EEE/EnI faculty at the institute have specializations in communication. So, there won’t be a lack of good faculty.
So ultimately what will finally matter is the course and looking at the present scenario even many dual degree students are choosing for ECE over EEE. Overall, it is a great branch to study.
How are placements for electricial engineering students in Thapar University?
According to some of my friends studying there, the institute has managed to show good placement records every year. Students often receive Pre-placement offers by top companies in their 6th semester after they had training or internship with them.
Placement highlights:
- A total of 264 recruiting companies visited the campus for placements.
- On average, about 90% of B.Tech students were placed.
- The highest CTC offered in B.Tech at Thapar was INR 25 LPA and the average CTC was between INR 6-8 LPA.
- The top recruiting firms for Electrical engineering are Maruti, Deloitte, Exl Analytics, Tata Motors, Mu Sigma, Honda, Schneider Electric, Asian paints, Reliance, Wipro, Sapient, etc.
- The internship opportunities are also good and these turn into full-time offers sometimes.
- One girl got an internship at Reliance which turned into a full-time job at CTC 16 LPA.
- The top mass recruiters were Infosys and TCS. They offer a salary package of 3-3.5 LPA.
The students of B.Tech score the highest number of placements every year at Thapar University. The institute has even managed to get more than 90% of students placed in the last 6 years. You should make sure to contact a currently enrolled student and know the scenarios.
How is Computer Science at IIT Bhubaneswar?
Computer Science Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar is not at its full potential under the current situation as compared to other IITs. Being inaugurated in the year 2008, CS still does not have its own separate dedicated department or school and comes under the School of Electrical Sciences. However, the School of Electrical Sciences is one of the fastest-growing schools in IIT Bhubaneswar. This school offers an intensive research-oriented learning environment.
Although IIT Bhubaneswar is still in it’s developing phase, the placement scenario has improved significantly over the years. In 2019 there was 100% placement from the CSE department. The average CTC offered was around 11.5 LPA while the highest went up to 39 LPA. Many MNCs and PSUs took part in the placement drive.
Though still developing, IIT Bhubaneswar offers a decent CSE program both in terms of academics and placements.
What are the placement statistics of BITS Hyderabad CSE?
I completed my B.E. CSE from BITS Hyderabad in 2021. Thus, I can share with you the placement statistics for my batch.
As on 3rd December 2021, 91.73% was the placement percentage for our batch. The median salary was 27.5 LPA, the highest salary was 43.31 LPA, and the average salary was 26.8 LPA.
These records are quite impressive, and at par with the top IITs, Pilani, Goa, and IIIT Hyderabad. As for placements, BITS Pilani is the best, followed by Goa, and then Hyderabad.
I am interested in programming, algorithms, etc. So what will be good for me: IIIT-Allahabad IT or IIIT-Delhi CSE?
If you are given a choice between IIITA and IIITD, take admission in IIIT Delhi hands down. You will never regret it. IIIT Delhi has everything that a good IT institution needs i.e. Great faculty, excellent domestic and international placements, and an overall great experience.

IIIT DELHI
The cut-off for admission at IIITD ranges from 16694-28261. IIITD has a great set of faculty members and the curriculum is excellent.IIITD lacks diversity. With around 85% of the student community belonging to Delhi, it isn't catering to a pan-Indian audience. IIIT-Delhi students seemed frustrated with the workload and students are left with deadlines every single day and thus have no life out of academics.
IIIT Allahabad
The candidate must have cleared the JEE Mains. The cut off for admission at IIITA ranges from 1291-5330. IIITA has a great coding environment. Faculty is not up to the mark.
They both have a good curriculum but IIIT Delhi has so much more to offer. So If I were you, I would definitely choose IIITD.
Which college should I choose between UIET Chandigarh and Thapar University for CSE?
To help you choose between UIET and Thapar University, here are a few comparisons-
- Infrastructure- The infrastructure of UIET is not good. Thapar University has a good infrastructure and you will really like it when you visit the institution. Also, do check the pictures of Thapar on instagram.
- Fees- The fees for Thapar University is extremely high. On the other hand, UIET fees are so affordable that you won’t even feel like you are paying college fees.
- Research- Panjab University is doing good in the area of research. But UIET in itself has not produced much output yet. On the other hand, Thapar excels in research quality. However, PU has a government funded innovation center and you may get an internship over there. This makes UIET also a good choice for a career in research.
- Brand Value- Panjab University is a big brand. However, its Engineering department is not as well recognized. Thapar is a well known engineering institution that has a high reputation in North India. It has a brand value at par with BITS and NITs.
- Alumni Network- UIET is new and has virtually no alumni network. Thapar is old enough and has a wide alumni network spread across various countries.
Thus, after considering various parameters, I would suggest you to opt for Thapar University for your CSE if its high fees is not an issue.
Is Mizoram University a good option for a B.Tech?
One of my friends studied at Mizoram University (MZU). According to him, it is not a good choice to opt for MZU to pursue engineering.
Here are some reasons why:
- The infrastructure is not at par with other Government Funded Technical Institutions (GFTIs).
- Students are not allowed to use the multimedia lab, also they lack updated technologies.
- The curriculum is obsolete and does not match with the latest industrial requirements.
- The content that is taught here will not extend your skill set or make you more employable.
- In the final year, every student is required to undergo Industrial Training for a minimum of 30 days and a maximum of 45 days. There is no scope for any internships.
- The faculty members are not competent and lack fundamental knowledge of their respective subjects.
- The hostels often face insufficient electricity and water supply.
- The mess food is not at all hygienic. Students have complained to authorities about these issues but they pay no attention to them.
- The wifi connection is also unstable.
- Placements are not up to the mark. Getting placed in service-oriented companies like Wipro, TCS, etc. is seen as an accomplishment.
Therefore, it is suggested that you do not opt for MZU to study engineering, because it will not be worthwhile. As you will learn less and even fall out of job opportunities.
Which is better among IIIT Lucknow for CSE, NIT Allahabad and HBTI Kanpur for chemical engineering?
Go for the one which is nearer. Although, IIIT Lucknow is a fair enough option to consider for chemical engineering. All the above-mentioned colleges are national-level recognized colleges.
- The reason why IIIT Lucknow is slightly preferred over the others is because of its campus which is ever-growing and developing.
- The recruiters are always eyeing the campus and offering packages as high as 10 LPA, which makes it quite a welcome option for all the applicants and aspiring candidates.
- Moreover, the campus will help you to focus on extra-curricular and other curricular activities too apart from academics, thus paying a lot of attention to the overall growth of the personality holistically and not just scoring good grades.
- The multiple competitions and championships happening are always intended to prepare the students holistically.
You can go for HBTI Kanpur only when you have no other options of IITs or NITs. It is a state-level college and not as reputable as the others.
