I am a fresher who has got an admit from XLRI (BM) and I am waiting for IIMA results. I don't think I will get IIMA. Assuming I don't get IIMA should I join XLRI or attempt CAT next year?

If you are planning on adding relevant work experience to your profile then taking another year to attempt CAT can be beneficial. If not, then this decision can hurt your case. CAT is also quite unpredictable, so you can’t be certain that you will get into IIM A next year.

Joining XLRI can be a good decision. It is one of the best B-schools in the county. There are people who may argue that IIM A offers better opportunities, which may even be true. However, XLRI is a different kind of brand with an enviable campus experience. As a part of XLRI, you will have access to their extensive alumni base across the industries, sectors, and institutes.

Add up these factors and weigh in your options before making any decision.

The base salary of analysts is in the range of INR 35-40 lakhs. But you should know that getting into IDB has become quite difficult over the years. On average around 10 students get IDB offers from IIMA due to limited job openings.

What are the most frustrating aspects of being a student @ IIIT Hyderabad?

PS
Pulkit Sai Posted On : February 28th, 2022
BTech+MS by Research CSE from International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (2021)

One of my friends attended IIIT Hyderabad. Following are some of the things that used to bother him.

  • While on campus you will be completely absorbed in academic work. Students are usually always stressed about some assignment submission or meeting a deadline, at IIIT H.
  • There are very few extracurricular activities, in which you can take part.
  • Due to lack of funding, the college fest isn’t that great. Also, very few students participate in the fest.
  • Teaching Assistants are not very cooperative.

Also, most people don’t know much about IIITs. So, you may have a hard time explaining the brand value of the institute.

SB
Shurti Bansal Posted On : May 24th, 2022
IPM from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (2020)

IIM Rohtak is a good option for an MBA in Finance. It has a good ecosystem for Finance specialization. Every year, many students clear CFA Level 1.

The institute has a good faculty base.  The student crowd is competitive. You will share classrooms with talented peers. The peer group is pretty diverse as well. There are people from different academic and cultural backgrounds.

During IIM Rohtak placements 2022, around 6% of students got placed in the finance sector.  The average CTC for this year was INR 16.06 LPA.

The security and management at Amity University Gwalior are excellent. Besides 24-hour guards, there are stringent security systems through smart cards, biometric readers, latest IP cameras to ensure the security of students. Students who bring vehicles need separate permission passes. You will need a signed pass from the hostel warden and concerned mentors to leave the hostel premises. Whether you are a day scholar or a hosteller, you will be secure on campus.

One of my friends appeared in the FMS interview this year and converted the call. The interview was offline and on the FMS campus. There were two panelists.

The interview started with an introduction. Next, he was given an extempore topic - Novelty. Following the extempore, there were a few questions based on his IT background  and his SOP. There were general questions like - ‘Why MBA? As there are many CXOs who aren’t MBAs.’ The interview was around 15 mins. Overall, it was a pleasant experience for him.

What are my chances of getting into KJ Somaiya for CS with an 88.9 percentile in the JEE?

Rather than JEE Mains percentile or score, you should check the JEE Mains rank. For 2021, the required JEE Mains cutoff for CS at KJ Somiya was 1338 in round 1 and 2584 in round 2.

You will have a better chance of getting admission at KJ Somiya if you are Gujarati. The cutoff for the minority quota is comparably lower.
