What keeps you connected with the education sector and how has your experience been so far with the institute?

“The way this institute treats us and my passion for education”

My passion, my love for education and the friendly environment this institute provides me and to all its members is what keeps me connected with the education sector. My experience here has been great so far, with each passing day providing me with newer opportunities and challenges in the educational field.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

“To be the best tutor and friend for my students”

Being the Associate Professor of the Periodontics department, I am accountable for the smooth running of the department and the welfare of the students. It's my responsibility to see that the students don't lose their interest in the subject, especially during this pandemic time when the education sector is affected to a greater extent.

What extracurricular programs are organized in college to enhance the skills of the students?

“Sports and cultural activities are conducted to boost their talent”

We believe in the 'healthy body and mind' concept. Our annual Maitri Cricket League (MCL) and Student's Football League (SFL) are organized at the state level are a grant hit in our area. Apart from these we also keep organizing the events like annual day celebrations, convocations, and Ganesh Festival to boost our student's hidden talents.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the future preparedness of students?

“It is prepared and updated in alliance with Dental Council of India”

Our curriculum is in accordance with the one laid down by the Dental Council of India (DCI). And DCI guidelines ensure that all the areas of dentistry are being covered both theoretically and practically to prepare our students in the best possible way for their coming future. The DCI keeps updating the syllabus with respect to the changing needs of society. Our students are trained to adapt well to the changing trends of the community.

What are the approaches you use apart from curriculum to teaching the students?

“I guide students to utilize their skills in college and inter-state events”

Students are encouraged to participate in the conferences and workshops which are held regularly at the state and national levels. Along with it, our college organizes training programs, workshops and hands-on courses to improve the practical skills of our students.

What are the characteristics of your college?

“We offer different diploma courses apart from regular ones”

We are more than what most people know about us, we Maitrians are a very big family. Apart from imparting dental education our institute also provides nursing and various diploma courses all under this one roof.

What do you see as the greatest strengths of your institute?

“Our power is our integrity and diverseness”

The greatest strength of our college in my eyes is its 'unity in diversity'. We have staff and students from nearly all the states of India and it makes my Maitri even more colorful.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for higher education in general?

“To keep rhythm with ever-changing societal needs”

As we all are aware higher education demands more precise knowledge and training in the field of their specialty. And as the competition is getting tougher day by day the challenge we face the most is to keep pace with the changing trends of the present era. We need to periodically modernize both, our infrastructure and our knowledge so that we can provide the best to our future doctors.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Don’t limit yourself to only a single field as a career option”

Because dentistry is a promising field with multiple job opportunities in the future. It does not limit its practice to the patient's mouth only as seen in the past, but the current scope of dentistry extends itself to facial esthetics, smile designing, implants, lasers and treatment related to face and scalp. Hence, one can always look forward to the field of dentistry.
