What are the key factors that keep you connected to the education sector?

“Implement my knowledge and experience to help budding medical professionals”

The responsibility towards the future of medical education and the medical profession keeps me engaged in this endeavour. The satisfaction of having the ability to shape young minds is the biggest motivating factor.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

Inclusive leadership is essential in an academic and professional setting”

Every faculty member and student is unique. Their ability to connect with patients is different and varies from each person. I always make an effort to delegate tasks to those who are best equipped to complete them successfully. We respect diversity and provide a conducive environment for people to come together for a cause.

How does the curriculum of the institute ensure the best practice of industry?

“Best clinical and ethical practices are the core of the curriculum”

The curriculum maintains the right balance in the composition of the program by a uniform distribution of theory classes, practical learning in Wards and OPD’s along with field camps. The preparations for university examinations and competitive entrance examinations, etc. are also a part of the curriculum.

What are your responsibilities to the institute and the students?

To safeguard the institution's values, ideals, and viability”

The institution administration has a responsibility to understand the students' needs and to formulate policies that create a healthy environment in an institution. The responsibilities to the Institute and students are intertwined with each other. The competence of the students in medicine signifies the success of the Institute. This, added to the continual improvement in education standards is the responsibility of the Institute.

What do you think should be the institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“To ensure that healthcare stays in skilled and able hands”

The top priority for ur institute is to prepare students to be adept in clinical practice. Our goals largely align with the guidelines of the National Medical Commission. To provide quality medical education and groom our students to become high-quality medical professionals is our duty. Also, to encourage them to adopt the latest medical research and contribute effectively.

What are some of the biggest challenges for higher education in the current scenario?

“A decline in reliable quality education due to mushrooming of numerous institutions”

The disconnect between theory and practice is the biggest challenge to higher education in general. For SRIMS, the primary challenge is to establish a reputation for itself in an already existing ocean of eminent healthcare institutions. We try to achieve this through the success of our students and by acting upon the feedback from them.

What do you see as your institute’s greatest strengths?

“Unique curriculum and a dedicated staff working tirelessly towards students education”

We approach medicine as an inexact science. We feel that the medical curriculum has been much too linear. The new competency-based medical education curriculum is a noteworthy factor in our institution. Coupled with this, our highly qualified and experienced faculty members are always available to help the students.
