Mr. Sagar Vaghela is working as an Assistant Professor at Shree Swaminarayan Sanskar Pharmacy College from the last 2 years. He has completed his B. Pharm and M.Pharm and is currently pursuing PhD. He has also worked as a Research Associate in the Oxygen Healthcare Industry.
What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?
“Provide them best learning opportunities and also boost their morale”
As a faculty of department my main role is to conduct lectures and practicals of my respective subject and complete the curriculum within a given time limit in such a way that students can understand concepts in depth and get maximum benefit in their performance during exams. I also have to make students learn and understand the topic and not memorize it. As a faculty I also guide students about their future career prospects and also motivate them to carry out research.
How do you introduce practical and industry oriented approaches towards subjects?
“By organizing trainings and professional visits”
As a faculty I always try to teach my students about practical application of what they study in their curriculum and always try to relate theoretical topics with its applicability so that students get more clarity about the topic. I also provide them hands-on training for better understanding. We also carry out industrial visits so that students can get to know how industry works.
Which practices are offered by the department to help students gain necessary skills?
“We keep on organizing experimental sessions and special courses”
Department regularly provides students with special lectures which help them to gain necessary skills by enhancing their grooming and personality, communication, interview preparation and we also provide value added courses. Our department always focuses on research and always motivates students to carry out research like surveys because this will increase innovative thinking of students and make them more creative.

How does your department prepare students for higher education?
“By conducting seminars and providing them entrance exams study materials”
We at SSSPC motivate students to go for higher studies and we also carry out GPAT test series so that they can get stipend during their m. Pharm course. We also carry webinars for students to understand the importance of higher education and the GPAT test.
How do you help others to self-manage their medications?
“By consulting them about benefits of medications”
As a pharmacist, I help them to understand what medications they are taking and why. I also help them to be aware of how and when to take their medications, to recognize side effects and to understand the dangers of Sharing Medications. Beside all this, I make them understand how to save money on medications
Why did you opt for pharmacy in the first place?
“Passion to make people healthy and disease free”
“I became a pharmacist as I was very much interested in human health. What keeps me going is the ability to understand health at a much deeper level and translating it to my patients. Seeing them healthier and happier drives my passion.”

How do you keep yourself updated with new drugs in this pharmacy profession?
“My habit of exploring things in a much deeper level helps me to keep myself updated”
I have worked as a hospital pharmacist for more than five years so I am very much aware about the latest medicines they are in use and I always have a passion to know about the new list of approved drugs by the US FDA so that they keep me up to date about new drugs and trends.
