You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Teaching and to mold individuals connects me with education sector”

I have been working as a teacher since 2001. Teaching is one profession where we are connected to many sectors of the society. Irrespective of which subject is handled, we are responsible to mould the individuals fit to the current scenario.


Being the Principal of Moti Mahal College of Hotel Management, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

Students become brand ambassadors and groom our students in a well disciplined manner”

Our students are our brand ambassadors. We strive to provide the best education to our students. We groom our students in a well discipline manner by which the industry can recognize us easily.


How does the curriculum of Moti Mahal College of Hotel Management, ensure the best practice of industry?

“Organize certificate programmes, subject-wise workshops, Seminars, and career guidance programmes for pupils”

As per NEP-2020, the syllabus of BHM is upgraded as per the requirement of the industry. We conduct many certificate programmes, Add-on courses and bridge courses, subject-wise workshops, Seminars, Food Festival, National/International Conference, industry visits, industry-institute interaction programmes, career guidance programmes, etc to keep our students updated. We provide ‘Roaster Training’ to all our students in the hotel where our college is attached which helps them to gain practical knowledge in each department.

What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

“Provide hands-on-training, and BHM course for the students”

Ours is the one college which provides hands-on-training/roaster training to the students of all batches. Only college which conducts BHM course affiliated to Mangalore University with AICTE approval. Only college which is attached to a 3-star luxury hotel in Mangalore which acts as a major catalyst when it comes to industry connect.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for Moti Mahal College of Hotel Management specifically?

“Hotel management syllabus updation and covering wide areas of curriculum”

BHM/Hotel Management syllabuses are not uniform throughout the country and thus covering all the aspects in the curriculum is not easy. It will be of great benefit if the Hotel Management has a uniform syllabus like the other degree courses as that will allow us to give more value with the subject.


Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Learn more and apply necessary skills to your career”

The present generation need to be serious while choosing the professional courses. As many persons do not know the content of the course which they choose, as the result many do not continue in the industry.


What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for Moti Mahal College of Hotel Management international affairs and/or students?

“Plan to process faculty exchange programs and decide to sign with MoU outside the country”

We have MoU with a few internationally branded hotel groups. Also we are in urge of signing more Mou with the hotels and colleges/universities outside the country to help the college in placements/student exchange & faculty exchange programmes.

What is the rate of admissions in your college? Has it increased from the last year? 

”Admission rate has been comparatively good in the last two years”

There are not many challenges faced by the College Management for admissions. The rate of admission has been good for the last 2 years and this year also we are maintaining 100% admissions in our college


Do you have any extra-curricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to the real-world challenges?

“Provide inter-collegiate competition, food festival, cultural programs, cooking competitions, management fest, Sports events, and charity works for pupils”

Yes. We organize various programmes to keep the students and faculties updated.

We have NSS and Red-cross Units in the college which organizes, Swach Bharath abhiyan

programmes, blood donation camps etc. We organize inter-collegiate competition, food

festival, cultural programs, cooking competitions, management fest, Sports events, charity works etc. every year. The student council of the college take initiative to organize many events.


With the competition so high, how do you guide your students to survive in such a competitive scenario?

“Industrial visits, training and encouraging students to face outside competitions”

By providing the best possible training in all aspects students will have a confidence to face any challenges. We make sure that the student is industry ready and always willing to learn more. We encourage our students to be goal oriented as that will help them stand out.
