WAT and PI are seen as the most crucial and the most difficult rounds before you pursue MBA. The pattern of WAT varies in all MBA colleges. The word limit is around 300-400 words and you get around 20-30 minutes to write the essay. These rounds might seem like a tough nut to crack but one way out if all the anxiety is to be updated about events by reading newspapers and articles. Here are a few tips to help you escape the dread you might feel when going for this year's CAT.

IIM Lucknow WAT Tips:

  • Practice- Solve as many previous year papers as you can identify topics that are recurring. Try writing 500 words on 2-3 topics each day.
  • Grouping- Identify students who are in the same boat as you and hold study sessions together. Give topics to each other for writing essays and at the end of the day check for grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
  • Time yourself- Set a stopwatch while writing an essay and on the next day, give yourself less time than you did the day before. Try completing a 500 word essay in 25-30 minutes.
  • Do not restrict yourself- Do not solve only CAT question papers. Go for IIFT, XLRI, and MDI as well so that you get a plethora of topics. Try writing on a random topic every now and then.
  • Inform through writing- Inform your reader how the topic has an effect on political, economical, social, environmental, and legal aspects on the society.
  • Examples- Give real life examples in your essay wherever possible.
  • Wordplay- When you have less to write about, you can use good vocabulary and add connecters like furthermore, although to increase the word count.
