What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“The overall academic development of students”

Being a Faculty of CSE Department, I am a teacher and a mentor of the students. Teaching the assigned courses, making the students understand the concepts of the respective course, and to develop and improve the skill set of the students are my prime responsibilities as a teacher. I also evaluate the knowledge of students and provide them with the adequate material related to that course. Moreover, I motivate and show them the path to improve their soft skills in addition to the subject knowledge as well. Also, I make them aware about the recent trends of the market, so that they can prepare themselves for the future endeavors.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations within your University?

“Open and positive environment for all”

I believe in creating an environment, where everybody has the right to say and everybody needs to understand the point of view of others. Communication is the key for a healthy relationship. I keep myself open for discussions and help the fellow faculty. I appreciate the efforts put forward by students and staff, and sometimes correct them on the things that they are doing incorrectly. I motivate them to take initiatives in the class or university activities, and help them in solving their personal problems if they discuss the same.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Varied approaches to enhance skills”

The curricula at SPSU is updated every year to incorporate the latest industry trends and requirements. We follow the best teaching methodology with case studies, small projects, presentations and modern tools to teach students. Also, teaching the practical concepts by implementing the programs, numerical problems, discussions and ethics help them gain necessary skills as a professional. Also, there are several Programming languages/tools that are being taught to students in the course curriculum that current industries look for. The students are trained by the industry experts and specialized Faculty for the technologies that are in demand by the industry giving students a wonderful exposure and guidance.

Any insights on the placement activities for the students from your department?

“Skill enhancement and guidance for better employment”

We are preparing our students to become employable by giving hands-on experience of the subjects that they learn in their degree. Mock interviews are conducted to evaluate their knowledge and communication skills. The students are performing well and have been placed in diverse companies globally. The department is also helping those students who want to pursue higher education by guiding them in selecting their higher education specialization and helps in choosing the elective subjects as per their future requirements.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high?

“Guidance with preferred choices and skills”

Apart from respective technical knowledge and skills related to the course, I advise all of them to improve their communication and interpersonal skills, develop ethics and work in teams as well. I always try to improve the critical and analytical skills of my students as all these skills are required in different walks of life. Those who want to do a job are advised to learn new tools and techniques as per the industry requirements, gain practical knowledge by doing projects along with preparing for the quantitative aptitude for interview. Those who want to go for higher studies are mentored to select their area of specialization in which they want to pursue and helped to select the field and the subjects/courses related to that field. Those who want to go for business, I suggest they develop skills related to the type of the business, do internships in the companies related to that business, learn the way they are dealing with employees and customers, the policies and ethics.

What approaches do you bring in apart from the curriculum to train the students?

“Creative teaching and academic practices”

I always try to incorporate better practices for developing a student’s skills. The presentations and seminars are conducted regularly to improve their presentation skills, and discussions are done to overcome their hesitation of speaking, etc. Projects to improve teamwork capabilities and interpersonal skills, and punctuality are a daily practice. We also conduct Panache, which is the annual sports and cultural event, where competitions are organized at inter university level. Students organize such events with the help of the management and faculty. These events develop the leadership skills, event management skills, communication skills and teamwork in the students and help them become more confident.

What valuable advice would you like to give to the students?

“Develop multiple skills to achieve success in life”

I advise my students to never stop learning. All the industries are looking for an allrounder. An allrounder in their eyes is the one who has communication skills, interpersonal skills, critical and analytical thinking, teamwork and ethical thinking in addition to the subject knowledge. Establish these skills as these are the key to success.
