Mr. Aman Jain is the Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering at SPSU, Udaipur. He has a rich experience of 7 years in academics and research. He completed his Master of Technology in Transportation Engineering after qualifying GATE. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Lifetime Member of the Institute of Engineers (India), Institute of Valuers and associated with the Institute of Highway Engineers, London.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Achieve all measurable learning outcomes of courses and programs”

As an Assistant Professor, my main role is to prepare course materials, plan, schedule, organize, and monitor the academic lectures. Also, evaluate practical’s of assigned subjects for the students. A teacher should ensure that all measurable learning outcomes (of the courses and program) have been achieved to a satisfactory level. 


How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty? 

“Creating a healthy habitat through constant communication and interaction”

We encourage students to participate in co-curriculum activities. They receive mentoring and counselling for various issues. For fellow faculty, we acknowledge their work, motivate them, and offer advice when necessary.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Guest lectures, interactions and hands-on workshops for students”

  • Engaging students in practical activities and skill development exercises while exploring their area of interest.
  • Evaluate their performance and inform them about the shortcomings and relevant strategies for further improvement.
  • Organize industry visits for students to gain experience in the work environment. Aid students in their project work.
  • Conduct guest lectures from industrial resource persons for enhancement of domain knowledge and spread awareness towards utilization of new technologies.

How do you strategize the curriculum of your department?

"Student-centric education with an outcomes-based approach"

Outcome-based education along with a student-centric model has been utilized to measure students’ performances through outcomes. Due to this, we develop course plans that utilize a variety of teaching techniques for delivering lectures to students. Also, the curriculum is updated on a regular basis.


What are your thoughts on the placements and higher education of students from your department?

"We place our students into reputed companies such as JK Cement, Pinnacle, CAD, etc”

Students who are eligible to be recruited through the university's placement cell benefit from the process. The department students have been immensely benefited from it. For instance, our students are placed in reputed companies like J K Cement, Pinnacle CAD etc. Furthermore, students who are considering higher education will receive additional assistance and counselling from the department faculty.


Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“Technical festivals organized throughout the year, with cultural and social events”

  • Yes, SPSU regularly organizes the Annual Sports and Cultural Festival for the students.
  • In order to expose students to real-world challenges, they are encouraged and supported to participate in technical festivals and/or competitions.
