What are your responsibilities toward the students of SPSU?

“I am primarily responsible for imparting the best knowledge to students during my courses”

I always strive to provide the reasoning behind the theories being taught to the students. One of my goals as a teacher is to get students to think critically, instilling in them a taste for challenging what they are taught. As engineers and scientists, we spend most of our time challenging established or perceived facts, and this is arguably the way we mature and manage to solve problems.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“We can generate academic excellence by building confidence amongst us”

I trust that the students are the most important fraternity to deal with. There are times when we need to be strict for their best learning. There are times when they need to be boosted up for their best performance. About my fellow faculty, I establish good professional collaborations and enable open communication.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“By understanding the practical implications of concepts taught in the classroom”

A theoretical explanation complemented by an experimental justification completes a concept. Students in the first year are given the knowledge of the fundamental physical principles underlying modern technology and processes. A strategic combination of theory and experiment helps immensely.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated?

“Regular review of the syllabus with the help of academic experts and professionals”

In my place of work, the best part is we review our curriculum quite often. And we also involve industrial inputs. The process of revising and updating starts from the faculty level and with the proper understanding we exercise it. Therefore, this is quite a flexible system.

What are the challenges you are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

“The switch to online education has been an ongoing challenge recently”

Maintaining the level of quality education is one of the main issues. Also, I encounter challenges such as different learning levels in a class. The student promotion to a level of research is difficult in our country. Currently, online reaching also limits actual outcomes as expected.

What are the interventions you bring in apart from the curriculum to train the students?

“ICT-based methods with the concept of the flipped classrooms”

In the situation, where the learning group is mainly from engineering and sciences, it seems ambiguous and uncertain that traditional lecturing alone is effective enough as a teaching strategy. Utilizing the ICT based methods with the root concept of inverted classroom popular as flipped classroom can be an integrated strategy for the effectiveness of teaching and enhanced learning in electronics undergraduate studies wherein the instructional contents are delivered and managed involving the online methods.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

“Focus on fundamentals and acquire additional skills that highlight them”

I would advise my students to have an open mind, set goals, and be curious. Also, cultivate the habit of “seeing”, interact with as many people as you can and get out of your comfort zone.
