What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To develop an interactive teaching plan to help students learn better”

Being a Faculty of Mathematics department, my very first priority is to design a coherent instruction methodology to sustain the student’s interest in the subject. Secondly, I aim to inculcate discipline in the students and enforce classroom discipline. I design appropriate lesson plans and teaching material. Additionally, I prepare assessment and evaluation strategies.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow Faculty?

“We need to work with peer groups to achieve mutually beneficial development"

I believe that positive interaction with students will create a safe space for learning. Once a week I engage students in active learning and talk about their hobbies and interests. To build up a healthy relationship with fellow colleagues, we must work on joint research and collaborative learning.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“Interactive learning methodologies for practical implementation of the subject”

As you know that Mathematics is treated as the Father of all sciences and its application areas are vast. Mathematics is important for a student to develop their technical skills. Being a Mathematician, I always strive to impart knowledge in such a way that students understand the concept and can apply it to their fields of study.

What are your thoughts on the placements and higher education of your department's students?

“We place a high priority on logical reasoning and aptitude training”

As far as placement is concerned our department plays an important role. Because without Logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude students will not be able to pass their entrance exam. Apart from regular classes of Mathematics subject, we also give emphasis on Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude classes. This enhances students' problem-solving skills and critical thinking which are required in the present technical environment.

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“Activities that promote self-discipline, comradeship, and community service”

Yes, the University organizes many extra-curricular activities throughout the academic year. These activities include an annual cultural fest for the students along with an annual sports week. Besides curricular activities, our university also has NSS and NCC activities. Being an Associate NCC officer at SPSU, we often engage our students in community services and nation-building activities. These activities shape the personality of our students with leadership qualities.

What are the interventions you bring in apart from the curriculum to train the students?

“An active learning approach to implementing any topic”

Apart from teaching the subject, it is very much important to give them practical implementation of any topic through active learning mode. Therefore, I always focus on learning by doing and try to give real-world problems a connection with mathematics and engineering. Thus, they will be able to analyze the technical challenges and try to identify a solution to the problem.

What valuable advice would you like to offer students seeking a successful future?

“Hard work, persistence and perseverance are the key factors to success”

In the current age, technologies are rapidly changing. In order to remain successful one must align their learning to the changing demands of the industry. My advice to the students in the present scenario is that they must always be updated with their respective field of study. They must learn about modern product innovations and discoveries.
