What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Teaching, research guidance and curriculum design”

Teaching, motivating students and guiding students on career opportunities is my prime responsibility towards them. Carrying out research and innovative programs in the department, and promoting a culture of academic quality, rigor and integrity for potential development of students are also my undertakings. Along with teaching, the additional responsibilities I hold at SPSU include being a member of Minor-Major Project Committee, course structure and curriculum designing of Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning, and all postgraduates programs, mentoring students for endeavor projects, and being a member of IEEE student branch.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Outcome Based Education and Industry Exposure”

To gain the practical approach in any subject, we need to first acquire the skills to fix things, this is what I teach my students to do. Learning by Doing is what makes you more curious, more open minded that helps in building the industry ready person. I ask them to not to be afraid to ask the question, that will help them to learn the things more conceptually. We assist them for various industry internships and training, organizing visits, expert lectures seminars and conferences. Research plays a very vital role in academia nowadays, so we need to have such an environment in the department too.

How do you strategize the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

“Improvement in student learning experience”

Writing the curriculum is all about meeting the needs of the students in a way that ensures the material is understood, maintained, and applied in and out of the classroom. As per the industry needs and the technology, which is updating very fast, the curriculum needs to be changed for career improvement of the students. We have many activities that help students to enhance their skills such as: IEEE student branch, it gives them the platform to know the real world and enhance their abilities. We also run the RAINBOW project for Women Empowerment, it helps them to know their career opportunities and counsel them regarding the career choices they make.

Any insights on the placements of the students from your department?

“Appropriate training and placement preparation activities”

The Placement Cell plays a crucial role in locating job opportunities for Under-Graduates and Postgraduates passing out from the college by keeping in touch with reputed firms and industrial establishments. We have a great placement history with students placed in reputed industries across the globe. We train them with relevant aptitude and reasoning skills, mock interviews are undertaken on a regular basis and other pre-placement training helps students become job oriented.

“Developing positive attributes towards competitions”

We offer them guidance and mentorship to boost their confidence and have a healthy spirit for the competition being so high in the outside world. We accentuate the positive attitude within them, and motivate students to set their own goals and achieve them. What valuable advice would you like to give to the students?

“Be positive and limitless in your approaches”

I would advise them to be a team player, venture outside of your comfort zone and think of yourself as a lifelong learner. Enhance your skills according to your choices and interests. Never ever let failure define you or your boundaries.
