Anmol Gautam got admission to IIM Bangalore with 97%ile in the CAT 2021 Examination. She graduated from Lady Shri Ram College for Women with a 7.2 GPA. Before her MBA, Anmol worked for JP Morgan for 2 years as an Analyst. Anmol went one-to-one interview with the Collegedunia Team and shared her MBA Admission experience, read below

Collegedunia Team: What was your CAT percentile? Did you avail reservation benefits for IIM Bangalore MBA Admission?

Anmol: I secured 97%ile in the CAT 2021 Examination. And, I am from General background, so there were no reservation benefits.

Collegedunia Team: Can you please describe your Pre MBA Academic Performance for Collegedunia readers?

Anmol: Sure, I had scored a full score in 10 boards i.e., 10 GPA. And had scored 92% in 12 boards. Furthermore, I had completed my graduation from Lady Shri Ram College with 7.2 GPA.

Collegedunia Team: Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any).

Anmol: The WAT process was conducted online and there was 1 moderator.

Collegedunia Team: What was the WAT/GD Topic?

Anmol: The topic was something related to Covid. If a pandemic strikes again, how much is the healthcare industry ready/prepared for it?

Collegedunia Team: What was your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively? 

Anmol: I had put forward the point of healthcare measures, and my personal opinion on the case. 

Collegedunia Team: Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Anmol: The mode of the Interview process was online. There were a total of 2 panels. Each panel consisted of 3 members (1 faculty, 1 alum, and 1 industry expert). The interview session was for a duration of 30 minutes.

Collegedunia Team: Mention at least 5 questions that were asked in IIM Bangalore Interview and how you responded to each of them?

Anmol: The questions asked during the Interview are:

Ques1. My work ex, cross questions on the same.

Ques2. News related to JPMC (talked about Metaverse)?

Ques3. Few Questions related to Distributions (Normal and Chi Square)

Ques4. My favourite subject out of macro and micro, then asked me questions on IS-LM, AD and shifts in curve with relation to the current economic situation (Russia Ukraine War), and then Fiscal and Monetary Policies and their effectiveness for situations like War.

Ques1. Asked me about Consulting firms, since I mentioned about the same in my SOP

Difference between MBB and Big 4?

Ques2. Difference between planning and strategy (and then he discussed the same for next 3-4 minutes)?

Ques3. Questions about Elections and my opinion on who will win in UP(results weren’t out)

Difference between Exit Poll and Opinion Poll?

Ques4. A supply and demand curve shift if there is an increase only in the quality of the product and the market is price sensitive

Ques1. Do you know who Lady Shri Ram is?

Ques2. Who was the Bandit Queen? (In my previous answer I mentioned that Shri Ram’s wife was Phoolan Devi, but not the Bandit Queen)?

Ques3. He said 3-4 lines on what’s happening around the world, then he said, On top of everything, now companies are supposed to work on CSR, invest their time and money on something which could be involuntary, it’s a sham!! What is your opinion on this? He emphasised on his point and asked me about my pragmatic opinion?

Ans. I did not agree to this and anyway held my ground for the entire discussion which lasted for 6-7 minutes.

Collegedunia Team: Mention any three reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Anmol: The three main reasons were:

  1. Campus Life of the Institute (Time to pursue hobbies, live projects, not just academically heavy).
  2. IIM Bangalore offers preferable subjects in the field.
  3. And also the city preference made me choose this college over others.
