Dr. Vaishali Rahate is working as a Dean Academics at Datta Meghe Institute of Management Studies. She is a passionate Management teacher, Administrator and Corporate trainer with Industrial experience. She has completed LLB, MBA and is a PhD degree holder. She has published 34 research papers in reputed Journals and Conferences. She has won the Best Case Study Award in 2011, Peter Drucker Award for contribution in the field of Management in 2012, Best Faculty award for the year 2015-16 by Meghe Group of Institutions, Nagpur. She has conducted more than 50 training programs for prominent PSUs and Private Companies.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“It helps to impart my learnings in youths to make them better humans”

Education helps an individual to learn, evolve and grow. It is the education sector that contributes to creating employment, improvement in the economy and moreover developing modern society. Education is a powerful change agent and that’s the reason I am associated with this sector to continue as a respectable member. This is the field that gives me a platform to express myself and contribute towards molding the students to become better citizens and lead a successful life ahead.


What makes your institute exceptional in comparison to others and why it is the best match for management students?

“We are providing best growth opportunities through best faculties and industry tie-ups”

We are leading an education group in central India with over 3 decades of glorious history and educating over 40000 students every year through 20+ institutes. Our curriculum is the latest and updated. The faculty members at DMIMS are highly qualified and possess good industry experience as well. Usually, we adopt case-based teaching, but more than 15 innovative pedagogies are adopted by the faculties as per the requirement of the course. What are your roles and responsibilities?

“My primary responsibility is to maintain academic integrity”

Being a Dean Academics I am a part of various activities like strategic planning, curriculum development, supervising the academic performance of the department, visioning with teaching staff in promoting excellence in teaching and research and administration. I also ensure that my students are getting the best learning and growing opportunities.


What prerequisite and skillset are required for the students who are planning for MBA?

“A bachelor degree along with good communication skills is a must”

It is very essential for a prospective MBA student to introspect himself/herself by doing a SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunity and threats) analysis. Once they identify their weak areas, they can easily cope with their grey areas. A management student has to pre-decide their area of specialization keeping in mind their interest areas and capabilities. 


What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

We are inclined towards providing them with global exposure”

We are moving towards an unpredictable future. We have already started the transition process by updating the curriculum on regular basis and providing Certifications to students to upgrade them in the latest skills. DMIMS has an association with many Foreign universities. 


What do you think is currently missing in the education system as compared to other countries?

“Shortfall of proper guidance and basic infrastructure are main reasons”

We as a country are facing various issues when it comes to Research and Development. Some of the worth mentioning issues are lack of research acumen in people due to unavailability of proper guidance, lack of incentive schemes or rewards for the researchers, lack of acknowledgment from the stakeholders, lack of research infrastructure and lack of grants.


When you first came to DMIMS Nagpur, what was your vision for the Institute?

“To strengthen roots of the institute by positive changes in education was the main motto”

I always wanted to be a part of a Growing organization that believes in constant change and development. At DMIMS we all strive to attain our vision through continuously upgrading the faculties and students with the latest skill sets.


In your opinion, how covid-19 pandemic has affected the placements of the students?

“It has not affected that much and students have secured good jobs”

The pandemic has not affected the placement scenario in our college. The recent pass-out batch had the highest package of 10 lakhs and the average package was 3.5 lakhs.

The world of work has changed drastically due to rapid advances in technology. All details and information are easily available over the internet and students should use that information in the best possible way for their growth. The students should equip themselves with the right mix of skills to meet the new demands of the complex socio-economic landscape.
