Dr. Joselin R has been working as the Principal of Trichy Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. He has done BE in Mechanical Engineering from Kuvempu University, ME in CAD from Sathyabama University and PhD in NDT/AE from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University of Hyderabad as part of his academics. He has an amazing 23 years of experience in the Teaching and Education field and throughout these years, he has worked as a Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Head and as a Principal in various reputed colleges. Being in the education sector, he has worked in various Administrative positions such as a Principal, Vice Principal, Department Head, ISO – Coordinator, ISO – MR, ISTE Faculty Advisor, Deputy Warden for Hostels, Class Committee Chairperson, Advisory Committee member for National and International Conferences, External Examiner for ME Viva Voce in Anna University, Approved supervisor for Ph.D/M.S students in Anna University, Placement officer, Duty officer, Convener for various Science exhibitions, NAAC Coordinator and lastly as a NBA Coordinator. He has also published 9 research papers in National Journals, 15 papers in International Journals, 16 papers in International Conferences, 22 papers in National Conferences. Throughout his professional career, he has participated in various short term training programs, Faculty Development Programs, workshops and seminars. He has worked on 4 industry sponsored projects and 1 government funded project. He has received the Best Paper Award for an International Conference, Young Faculty Award by IISC Banglore, has 6 years of experience in R&D in ISRO/VSSC, guided B.Tech and M.E students for their project works and also co-guided PhD students for their projects.

Being the Principal of TEC, what are you planning currently for the growth of our institute?

"We are planning to get accreditations from NBA and NAAC for our college"

Being the Academic Head of the Institution, my first priority is to get NBA and NAAC Accreditation for our college for which we have already initiated the necessary process. Once we receive the NAAC Accreditation, we are ready to go to the NBA for all the 6 departments. 

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry?

"It is developed after deep analysis of industrial world requirements and consist of value added courses"

We do rigorous analysis and research about the latest industrial developments, trends and requirements before designing or updating the curriculum of our college. And to bridge the gap between our present courses and what industry is looking for in our students, we will soon start offering various value based courses and skill enhancement programs to students. This way we will make our students ready for the outside competitive world and we are also offering placement specific training programs to students. Also, few of our students are interested in going abroad for their higher studies, so career counseling sessions are arranged for them as and when required.

How does your institute enhance the faculties skills and prepare them as per industry standards?

"By arranging faculty development programs for them and involving them in research projects"

What do you see as your institute’s greatest strengths?

"Our PG courses are our uniqueness and also makes us strong"

Our institute offers 6 UG courses and 2 PG programs out of which one is Mechatronics Engineering course, also this course is rarely offered by any other college of Tamil Nadu. So this is one of our strong points and soon we are going to complete 25 years of our establishment, so our legacy of imparting quality and employment oriented education also makes us strong.

Our students come from average educational backgrounds but we are doing our best in organizing more customized training programs and introducing add on courses for their skills enhancement and personality development. In addition to this, we offer industry specific and employment oriented training sessions to the students so that they can secure a good job with a decent package in a reputed company. Also, students depending on their knowledge, grasping power and learning capacity are categorized into different groups and then special learning classes and training programs are arranged by us in collaboration with experts to make them corporate and society ready.
