What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“Ability to provide high-quality education to the students and build leaders”
For the past 15 years, I have worked in the education sector, and I consider education to be a necessity for society. As a high-quality educational institution, we strive to prepare students for future leadership roles in the nation. The education sector provides me with the opportunity to share knowledge with the young minds of the nation.
What are some of the biggest challenges for the higher education sector and SVIET?
“Imparting not just theory but practical education is necessary”
Higher education, in general, should be the country's top priority if it is to reap the benefits of the demographic dividend. I would advocate for innovative pedagogies and structural changes that would ensure that only competent professionals graduate out of our higher education system. For SVIET, we have penned down a good strategic plan. The challenge for us would be to execute the plan overcoming the impediments and work through the constraints as we pursue the journey towards our vision.
What would you like people to know about SVIET?
“Global exposure and great faculty has made us a premier institutes for higher education”
The institution has been built on its base of highly accomplished faculty, world-class infrastructure, and a motivated student body. Eventually, adding to the cultural diversity found on campus. Local students are provided with many opportunities to visit other institutions as part of inter-college competitions, exchange programs, and as a result, they get international exposure. Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
“Avoid negative thinking, delaying tasks and practice new skills”
- Don't procrastinate - One common misconception is that your professional experience starts after college. This incorrect student career advice can and will cost future opportunities. Start looking for opportunities before you graduate.
- Expand your knowledge - Students learn multiple skills in college. Some are related to your career; others may seem less useful. Open your mind to those so-called “useless” skills. They may come in handy one day.
- Stay up-to-date - Staying current on technology and industry trends gives you an advantage over other applicants. Most students are more up-to-date with technology than seasoned professionals, giving them the upper hand.
