Dr Abhishek Jain is the Director of Shri Ram Institute Of Information Technology, Gwalior. His areas of strength include strong analytical and reasonable thinking. He is a passionate academician and has gained expertise in the field of Mechanical engineering over the past decade. He has acquired a strong background in the fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering subjects like Engineering Mechanics and Engineering Drawing. To reinforce the research atmosphere in the current organization, he is guiding one Ph.D. student and has also published a book on Engineering Mechanics. He aims to expand his knowledge in the field of research and teaching for the betterment of students.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“The desire to learn constantly and upskill for the latest trends"

The education sector can be a hugely rewarding place to work. Teaching and research are my passion. Since finishing my Ph.D., I’ve been associated with the education sector. Educators don't just teach students, they also have to keep up to date with the current trends. Our curriculum is a blend of academic theory and industry practices. At the moment, the coronavirus pandemic is our biggest challenge. The transition from the classroom to digital has been challenging and also interesting. 

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Leaders must embrace their competitive nature to help their company succeed”

A leader must combine knowledge, character, and application. The U.S. Army leadership framework of “Be, Know, Do” is the foundation behind the most powerful tool a leader can deploy. The Army’s Leadership Framework describes ‘Be’ as a character, ‘Know’ as the requisite knowledge and ‘Do’ as applying leadership by influencing, and improving. A leadership philosophy is a key tool for leaders to share their core identity. A leadership philosophy is essentially a belief system that guides your decision-making. It consists of your core principles, perspectives, and values. 

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of the industry? 

“The focus is on skill development and hands-on training to make the students industry-ready”

Shri Ram Institute Of Information Technology constantly works towards enhancing employability and entrepreneurial skills. The extension and extra-curricular activities richly work through a social ecosystem contributing to the wholesome development of the students. Social Awareness Programme is an integral part of the curriculum for the degree programmes. Each department brings in its expertise of knowledge and skills to transfer to the community. 

Adequate care has been taken to incorporate skill-based training in predominantly conceptual or theoretical courses through practical application of the concepts/theories learnt.
