What are your roles and responsibilities?

"To work as a bridge between students and faculty and give students required environment to grow"

Being a Professor, my responsibility is to see that the process of imparting knowledge through curriculum delivery is continuous and also that all students receive the same quality of education. Facilitating the learners with the necessary environment and working as a liaison between students, faculty, management and other stakeholders is what constitutes my daily routine in college. And when it comes to my own department, my duties are mainly performance-oriented, agile and adaptive, since the kind of problems people are solving with AI and ML technologies is unimaginable and experimental. Hence, I need to give enough input and freedom to all my faculty so that they can easily approach these problems, which calls for out-of-the-box thinking and much beyond the curriculum requirements.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"My passion for teaching students and the scope this field offers"

There are several factors that have played an important role in my continuous journey with the education sector and below are some of the most important ones.

  • Passion for teaching and research.
  • Integration of research and innovation in the curriculum rather than rote learning.
  • Transformation of engineering education from syllabus-based learning to the experiential learning paradigm.
  • Enough scope for the faculty to pursue their passion for research and teaching and academic autonomy.
  • The improved institutional support, quality of the workplace, peer support and most importantly the vision-oriented management.

What is your leadership philosophy?

"A leader knows how to channelize his team energy in the right direction"

I firmly believe that Leadership is all about developing a team that can work autonomously. Coming to myself, then I promote the culture of working together by ensuring mutual trust, commitment, and supportive and encouraging behavior between the faculty and students. In my opinion, there should be enough scope and freedom for new generation faculty and students to try out freestyle learning wherever possible. Ultimately the leader's role is to create channels for connecting the department to the outside world and provide good research, and academic and industrial connectivity nationally and internationally.

What inbound a student can gain from studying here at your institute?

"They will get every possible opportunity to explore their passion and skills"

We at RVCE aim to build engineers for the nation who are fundamentally self-sustainable with the changing requirements of industries and society by large. Our main focus is to teach life-long learning skills to our students by providing them with enormous scope for self-study and experiential learning. In the backdrop of the New Educational Policy (NEP), we have taken enough steps to make the engineering curriculum across branches follow the revised course structure from the year 2021, creating the scope for subjects that teach life skills for quality living and for creating a healthy society. Lastly, we have introduced new subjects like 'Design thinking' to enable critical thinking aspects. Integration of MOOC/NPTEL courses with the curriculum has given the freedom of our students to opt for the courses offered by IITs and other prestigious universities.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of the industry?

"We take inputs of industry experts via meetings of advisory boards and evaluation panels"

Industry being the primary stakeholder of the curriculum delivered, we put in consistent effort to include the industrial inputs during curriculum design and delivery in advisory boards, studies boards, partial deliveries, the center of excellence and evaluation panels. And what makes our curriculum unique from other colleges is our practice of evaluating the creative components in most of our practical and theory assessments, to make our students capable enough to use standard industry practices and research processes to take their learning outcomes to the next level.

What do you think should be the University's top priority over the next 10 years?

"We want to be the University with an International reputation"

Although we are one of the top private autonomous engineering institutions in Karnataka due to our commitment towards our vision which is "Leadership in Quality Technical Education, Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation, with a Focus on Sustainable and Inclusive Technology." Still, we aspire to be the University of International repute in the next ten years where we can attract more scholars from across countries to study at the RVCE. And we also strive to create an ecosystem inside the campus to produce innovative products and services that could be used nationally and internationally.

What makes your college unique in comparison to others?

"We give full support to our students to turn their dreams into reality"

RVCE is not only an institute but a brand with in-house leadership, supported by the RSST, to give you immense freedom to explore your thoughts, and passion and realizes your dreams. The culture inside the RVCE campus is vibrant because various activities are conducted by teams of innovative and creative students who create solutions and participate in national and international events across branches. We maintain a cordial relationship between faculty and students by involving them to work on joint projects, industrial consultancy activities, professional societies and many more. RVCE also encourages students' overall personality development by encouraging them to take part in their co-curricular activities.

What are some of the greatest strengths of your college?

"Our staff, infrastructure and industry-oriented curriculum is what makes us strong"

Our major pillars of strengths are our industry-ready curriculum, committed workforce, state-of-the-art infrastructure, lab facilities and management. We teach the need for commitment, mutual trust, and work culture to provide students with a 100% vibrant and goal-achieving environment. The proof of this is the presence of our alumni all over the world and pursuing their passions and professions.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

"By ensuring the culture of the trustworthy environment"

Providing a healthy, competitive and trustworthy environment to our students is our culture, which we have followed for more than 50 years. This can be seen through successful RVCE Asians who are in the top-10 companies of the world and have built many industrial products. Our alumni are serving the country in various civil services positions and Research and Development.

Any suggestions which you would liketo give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Develop strong subject knowledge and choose institute wisely"

Today's youth and students are highly result-oriented and typically like to work at 4X to 10X speeds in achieving their goals. There is nothing wrong with dreaming big and getting motivated by role models. But I would also like to advise them that they should understand people's efforts and troubles after which they have become successful. And to achieve your goals, make your foundations strong and vision high, choose proper education and institutions matching all your parameters, and work from day one towards that. The world is throwing enough competition at you. Accept them and keep pursuing them irrespective of the failures and successes, and stabilize yourself.
