Dr.A.Y. Deshmukh is currently working as the Principal at Nagpur Institute of Technology. With a Ph.D. from VNIT Nagpur, he has worked as HOD in many prominent engineering institutes of the region. He has over 22 years of teaching and research experience. He has guided 7 Ph.D. scholars & has to his credit around 150 International Conference and Journal Publications with 34 Scopus indexed publications and more than 275 citations. He has filed 2 patents in the area of Brain-Machine Interface and is very passionate about the subject.

The Placement Cell plays a crucial role in locating job opportunities for Under Graduates passing out from the college by keeping in touch with reputed firms and industrial establishments. The assessment is done based on the intellectual capacity of the students. Campus recruitment training is provided which comprises of English and aptitude tests. The training will be provided through webinars by industrial experts. Technical certification will be provided by the institute. 


What are some challenges in the education sector?

“The biggest challenge is the availability of resources for the conduction of online teaching”

Though the solution to this pandemic is e-learning, it comes with several difficulties. The structure of learning, including teaching and assessment methodologies, is the first to be affected by these closures. The trends of audio-visual aids in classrooms are introduced but many higher education institutes in India are not equipped with such facilities. Open-source digital learning solutions & Learning Management Software should be adopted so teachers can conduct teaching online.

 As far as NIT is concerned, most students are from rural areas and are financially weak, as they do not possess electronic gadgets for e-learning. Network issues and internet connectivity is also a big hurdle.

The second biggest concern is the employment rate. Recent graduates in India are fearing withdrawal of job offers from corporations because of the current situation. There are chances that the 2020 placement season may witness a dip as the World Economy is going through a massive decline. 


What are your expectations from the students who are going to be a part of the Nagpur institute of Technology from this year onwards?

“Students should enthusiastically participate in online events/activities conducted by the institute”

The students should adopt the e-learning mode of teaching conducted by any institute. They must follow the established course start and end dates. With the classroom teaching they should inculcate the habit of self-study and gain knowledge by Guest lectures, webinars sincerely. They should avail the facilities of Video lectures through NPTEL, National digital library.
