Dr. M.Ezhilarasi is the Professor and HOD of the Kumaraguru College of Technology. She studied in GCT and MIT with a doctorate in Medical Imaging. Thirty years of academic experience in teaching, Research, and Administration is a notable one. She also served as a Principal for 5 years at the KGiSL Institute of Technology. She is a member of ISTE, ISI, CSI, Associate member of IEI, and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers. She authored several research papers in journals.

What are the key factors that connect you with the education sector?

“To grow in terms of the teaching and learning process”

My passion is the profession of teaching. It keeps me moving forward. The young aspirants come with a lot of expectations. We connect with them and facilitate their desires. There is a space for fun elements and a learning community on campus. We help pupils to grow in terms of the teaching and learning process. A necessary environment to avoid fear elements available in college. The fundamental tool that aids them to move forward is exponential learning. It is a prime part of a leadership position in academia and keeps connected with the education sector.

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“To bring energy to the environment and view altogether”

A leader is a compassionate one. They know the feelings and functions of other people. It is necessary to bring energy to the environment. We are together on campus. All people have their mindset. We join hands in work and make a team. This led to raising the progress of campus. 

What are the learning methods implemented in KCT?

“Problem and project-based learning available to students”

We start the problem and project-based learning models on the campus. There are very few institutions that are trying this model. It facilitates giving solutions for social/technological problems in a young learner. Students are actively involved in project-making exercises. They will learn several skills from these projects. Problem-based learning will be giving a solution on paper. It is helpful to learn the content deeply. We completed one year by doing these projects.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in KCT?

“Create an ecosystem by mutually standing in the campus”

We build a strong relationship on campus through love and affection for each other. It is our second home. We can understand feelings and the work of others together. A key to a healthy relationship is mutual understanding and empathy. We work as understandable friends instead of normal colleagues. All of us together create a nice ecosystem. We help each other and build a healthy environment. It is simple and easy.

What do you think is a top priority of campus for the next 10 years?

“Start progress according to national education policy”

All people are saying that the national education policy is ambitious. I think that it is designed well. India creates true scientists from the old times. It highlights my love for this policy to me. We arranged several stages consisting of science, astronomy, and astrology. It is essential to balance science and spirituality. India is a guiding light for many other countries and unfolds the technologies. We should know to bring balance into an educational institution. It aids the success of the campus.

How do you bring a practical approach towards subjects and make them industry-oriented?

“Connects with an industry mentor and provides a class for students”

We balanced the problem and project-based learning in college. A three-level mentorship is provided to each batch. The students will be connected with industry mentors. It aims to understand the requirements and standards adopted in the industry for pupils. Every project is dealing with industry standards. 

How does KCT prepare students for placements?

“Provides training to all students on campus”

Students are monitored through carrier training. It is available for final-year students. The preparation starts from the first year and candidates get a large amount of time to learn the skills. Pupils easily pick up the industry in the final year. There is no need for additional training. It is integrated with the curriculum and training.

Any advice do you give to the students for a prosperous career?

It is necessary to choose what we love most. Aligning the interest of students led to success. We create the interest for success formula. It is a natural way. We see the progress of students in studies and extracurricular activities. They get deeper learning and alignment.
