What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Providing Students with good quality in Teaching, Research, and Administrative Activities”

As a faculty of the aforementioned College, I have to devote my time to three types of activities: teaching, research, and various administrative assignments. All three types of activities undertaken by a faculty like me are meant to benefit the students of the college. Teaching-learning is a process that has a direct impact on the students. The remaining two activities indirectly influence the principal activity.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Providing students and Faculty with an interactive session regularly”

We try to build up a healthy relationship with the students as well as with our peers through regular communication. The process helps us in understanding the needs of our students in respect of the teaching-learning process and take corrective actions as and when required. On the other hand, peer-level interaction enables us to work as a team and the process of coordination is facilitated greatly.

How do you make the curriculum industry-oriented?

“Providing students with industrial visits to gain practical experience”

Our college offers three undergraduate programs (B.Tech.in Computer Science & Engineering, B.Tech. in Information Technology and B.Tech. in Leather Technology) and one post-graduate program (M.Tech. in Leather Technology) We are following an outcome-based education system in respect of all four courses since 2018. In this system, program education educational objectives, program outcomes, and course outcomes are set at the outset keeping in view the industry needs. This greatly facilitates the process of industry-oriented learning.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students for skill enhancement?

“Providing students with a teaching-learning process for enhancing their skills”

We follow a multi-pronged approach with the ultimate objective of making the teaching-learning process interesting for the students and yielding long-term benefits to them. The teaching process is ICT-enabled and designed in a way to ensure a participative process of learning where students are not mute spectators but are required to take an active part. As an integral part of the process, classroom teaching is supplemented by the submission of assignments and project works, PowerPoint presentations by students. The effectiveness of the teaching-learning is assessed and validated by a process of continuous assessment and capturing student feedback on teaching-learning.

“Curriculum is updated on a regular basis for the benefit of the students”

The curriculum is divided into several modules and sought to be completed in a time-bound manner. The curriculum is revised by the University every six years. Further students are required to take up MOOCs and fulfill Mandatory Additional Requirements and the process is updated every year. Skill-enhancements training programs are organized regularly. Along with the rest of the world, the Indian economy and industry are changing continuously and technology is becoming more complex every day.

“Providing students with various career-related options and assistance”

Most of the students appear for placement interviews organized by the placement cell of the college and reputed companies of the respective area take part in the process. The most promising students often opt for higher education in IITs/IIMs by appearing in the GATE and CAT exams.
