Dr. S. Mahalingam is the Professor and HOD - MBA of the C.K College of Engineering and Technology. He did B.E in ECE from Bharathidasan University and MBA in Marketing and HRM from Anna University. He previously worked as an Assistant Professor at C.K College of Engineering and Technology. He has also worked in the Regional Centre of Anna University and CARE School of Business Management. Dr. Mahalingan has more than 7 years of experience in the education sector.

What is your leadership philosophy?

“To lead as a captain, not as a boss”

I did not discriminate between myself and my subordinates. I always maintain a role with my colleagues and lead as a captain, not as a boss. The captain plays a key role among other players. Other members look at me to enhance their skills. Things will not maintain securely if there is a gap between leader and subordinate. I maintain a leadership style that tightens relationships successfully. 

What are the factors that connect you with the education sector?

“To provide skills, extracurricular activities, and placements to the student community”

I am inspired by the student community. It aids me to conduct beneficiary education for all pupils. My interest in the academy, skills, and extracurricular activities provided to individuals. It helps them to secure high marks. The placements for students are based on their skills. We begin with communication, soft and aptitude skills to train candidates. This enables them to get placed in a reputed company. Industrial programs, executive interactions, and alumni meet are essential to engage students' relations with the education sector. 

How does your college welcome students of different economic backgrounds?

“Give justification to below poverty candidates and give scholarships”

Our campus runs in the Cuddalore district and welcomes all students without any variation. We justify the students who can’t afford fees. It helps the economically backward section pupils. The chairman prefers me to this institute. I can serve better on campus. We give scholarships to poor students and assist in counseling and management to them.

How do you bring a practical approach towards subjects and make them industry-oriented?

“Industrial visits available to students for better job opportunities”

A different teaching aspect exists in our department. We use case studies videos and movie reviews. It creates a good mind among students. Theoretically oriented topics help to attract them easily. The human brain can grasp it speedily. We provide a practical approach in the department related to academic aspects. Our students visit two industries at the year-end to gain more knowledge about the subject. It makes them industry-oriented.

What plans do you design for students in C.K. College of Engineering and Technology?

“Prepare students for upcoming exams after a pandemic period”

The educational institutions suffered a huge loss last year due to pandemics. We face an issue of written practice among the students. The online test contains MCQ questions and patterns. We post questions for students to practice the answers. Our faculties prepare a small test for an hour. It helps students to clear papers by continuous practice. We decide to follow these measures in the upcoming years too. 

What is your vision about C.K. College of Engineering and Technology?

“To provide high-quality education, research, and innovations to pupils”

One of my visions is to provide high-quality education, research, and innovations for students. I used to make the attendance of faculty at 8:45 before the college timing. We conduct a meeting between 8:45 to 9 and prepare a list to accomplish in the day. It helps us to track the details easily. We complete our duties within accurate time. It made us shine among other campuses. 

What are the extracurricular activities conducted to enhance the skills of the students at C.K College of Engineering and Technology?

“Implement programs by connecting with management”

A lifetime membership is maintained by the campus management. The programs are produced by the functional areas of management. It aids students to attend programs by international organizations. They can improve their talent and understand every matter. It helps them to gain skills in their respective areas. We teach pupils how to overcome hazards and look into new opportunities.

Any valuable advice do you like to give to students for a prosperous career?

“Understand the basics and achieve success”

My advice to a student is to understand the basics. Basic knowledge is necessary to survive anywhere. We have to understand the basics of marketing management to do marketing. It is vital to study product launches, promotional strategies, and several advertisements. We can't do anything without any basics. Our team focuses on students understanding every concept. It should be imposed in a specific area.
