BITS GOA Social Life

Aside from academic rigor, BITS GOA Social Life provides students with numerous opportunities to interact and bond with their cohort. BITS GOA is well-known for its annual student initiatives and numerous programs held throughout the year. Among the major events are:

  • QUARK

Quark, the BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus's annual science, technology, and management festival, has developed exponentially since its humble beginnings in 2006. Former President Late Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Nobel laureates Sir Harry Kroto (Chemistry, 1996) and Prof. Douglas Osheroff (Physics, 1996), the Father of Wifi, Mr. Vic Hayes, Professor Walter Lewin, Cartoonist Stephan Pastis, Founder of Stack Overflow Joel Spolsky, and other leading innovators from the emerging sciences have graced the fest. Quark sets the platform for face-offs between the brightest brains in the disciplines of Engineering, Science, and Management, with a profusion of activities to test one's skills as well as palpate one's inquisitiveness.

  • SPREE

Spree, the campus Sports festival, has risen rapidly to the top of the list since its introduction. One of the most anticipated annual sports festivals has managed to carve out a distinct identity for itself among the abundance of such festivals that take place around the country (almost all of them were created long before Spree). The Organizing Committee works hard every year to guarantee that Spree continues to climb the ladder of greatness, with the most talented students from across the country competing in a variety of sporting activities such as Football, Cricket, Basketball, Tennis, Badminton, Squash, and many more. Spree 2017 was larger and better than ever before, with the ICC Cricket World Cup winning leaders at the helm.

  • Waves

Waves, a festival deliberately 'designed' to appeal to every sense of every visitor, has changed dramatically over the previous decade. Starting off as a small-scale festival, it is now known all over the country for its diverse range of events, as well as the glamorous celebrities it attracts. Previous editions featured mesmerizing performances by national and international artists such as international DJ Candice Redding, South African rock band AKing, the inimitable Shankar Mahadevan, talented music duos Salim-Suleiman and Vishal-Shekhar, Blackstratblues, Baiju Dharmajan, and Dead Letter Circus.

  • Coalescence

Coalescence is a management festival hosted by BITS Goa's Center of Entrepreneurial Leadership. Its goal is to give a forum for prospective entrepreneurs to present their ideas and inventions through a variety of competitions and workshops hosted during the first week of September. The ACT conference, in which notable business people and celebrities discuss their success stories, is one of Coalescence's main draws.
