Dr Sankara Malliga G, is a Professor and Head of ECE Department in the Anand Institute Of Higher Technology (AIHT), Chennai. She did her PhD from Anna University, Chennai in 2013 and joined this institute as faculty in 2016. She has a total of 24 years of work experience. She is an alumni of Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering, Krishnankoil which is sister concern of Anand Institute Of Higher Technology, Chennai.

Being the Head of ECE Department, what is your philosophy of leadership and describe your leadership style?

“Teamwork and smartwork is my leadership philosophy”

My philosophy of leadership lies in believing in smartwork and teamwork. We do the work within a team and help each other. 

How does the curriculum of Anand Institute Of Higher Technology ensure the best practice of industry?

“Organize technical and awareness programs for students on campus”

We follow Anna University curriculum on campus. In addition, we are conducting technical and awareness programs that help the students to make them technically qualified technocrats. We are also conducting entrepreneurship programs to help the students start their own business. Our alumni students from 2016, 2017, 2019 batches have started their own business.

Is there something specific to your department you would like to share with people?

“Project work, researching facilities and outdoor programs are available to students”

In ECE Department, all faculty members are having more experience as compared to any other branch or college. Some of our department faculty members have been working here since the last 15-20 year. Even the least experienced faculty members have at least 10 years of academic experience. A lot of research projects are going on in the department which will be given to the students as their project work. They can do their project in a well-versed manner. Our ECE department is recognized Research centre by Anna University and Ph.D. are doing their research work under the guidance of our department faculty members. I am also guiding Ph.D.

Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Welcomes all students without any economic variation and focus on discipline on campus”

We are taking care of getting more students from rural background. Our campus focusses on whoever join with us are behaving in a well-disciplined manner.

What are the placement statistics of Anand Institute Of Higher Technology (AIHT), Chennai?

“More than 90% is our overall placement percentage on campus”

We have an overall placement percentage of more than 90%. ECE Core companies are also visiting the college for placements of our students. Few students after working for two years in any company and gaining experience and then moving for their higher studies with the guidance of faculty members. Few students have also started their business.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities as Head of ECE Department to the institution and the students?

“To check out academic performance, project handling, and provide quality education to students”

As the head of ECE department, I handle students’ academic performance, research work and project handling. We are having Technology Business Incubators which is encouraging our students to start their own startup and entrepreneurship development work. I am also involved in Entrepreneurship development and incubation buidup.

“Organize programs and work as a team on campus”
