Ques. What is the placement scenario in nit warangal, nit trichy and nit surathkal for mtech in electrical branch?

● Top Answer By Anik Dhar on 04 Sept 21

Ans. My brother did his M.Tech from NITC. Here is his insight into the general placement scenario for MTech at NITs.  Over the years it has been seen that the placements for M.Tech students are comparatively less as most of the companies demand B.Tech graduates as the freshers or even experienced candidates. However, in some cases, M.Tech students are considered, like in research and development-oriented jobs. However, most industries prefer B.Tech over M.Tech.  After pursuing M.Tech your area gets narrower due to which the situation becomes very tricky for both the employers and the candidates applying for. As far as all the colleges are concerned the placement statistics are not so good for M.Tech students. In the recent placement drives, the average CTC offered at NIT Warangal, NIT Trichy and NIT Surathkal were respectively 21 LPA, 6 LPA, and 11 LPA. Read more

Ques. How was your MS electrical engineering interview at IIT Madras?

● Top Answer By Megha Banerjee on 29 Mar 23

Ans. The interview process for admission into the MS Electrical Engineering program at IIT Madras usually involves a panel of faculty members and experts in the field. The interview is typically conducted to assess your understanding of the subject, research potential, communication skills, and motivation for pursuing a higher degree in the field. The questions asked during the interview vary based on the candidate's academic background and research interests. However, some of the general questions that are asked during an interview for admission into the MS Electrical Engineering program at IIT Madras include: What are your research interests in the field of Electrical Engineering? How have you prepared for this interview and the program? What motivated you to pursue a higher degree in Electrical Engineering? What specific skills or knowledge do you bring to the program? Can you describe a research project or coursework that you completed during your undergraduate studies? Can you explain a challenging problem you faced and how you solved it? How do you plan to use your degree after graduation? What do you hope to achieve through your research? It is important to note that these are just some general questions that may be asked during an interview. You should be prepared to answer questions related to your academic background, research interests, and professional goals. It is recommended to thoroughly review your application materials, research interests, and past experiences to prepare for the interview process.Read more

Ques. How good is the integrated circuits and systems M.Tech programme at IIT Madras?

● Top Answer By Anamika Sinha on 29 Mar 23

Ans. If you are considering pursuing an M.Tech program in India, the Integrated Circuits and Systems (ICS) group at IIT Madras is an excellent choice. This program is considered to be the best M.Tech program in India and is even better than M.Tech from IISC or any other old IITs. Here are some reasons why: Tie-ups with industries like Texas Instruments: The ICS group has tie-ups with various industries, including Texas Instruments, which provides students with the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects. High possibility of getting placed in Texas Instruments: Due to the tie-up with Texas Instruments, the chances of getting placed in this company with a salary of at least 16+ LPA are much higher if you build your concepts to a greater depth. Impressive publication record: You can refer to the ICS group's website to see the kind of papers they have published. This indicates that the faculty are actively engaged in research and are contributing to the field. High-quality teaching: The ICS group has uploaded videos of their courses on their website, which you can watch to get an idea of how well they teach. Excellent placement record: IIT Madras has the best placement record, especially for Analog design engineer positions. This means that if you complete the M.Tech program from ICS, you are likely to have excellent job prospects. Of course, studying at IIT Madras is not easy, and you will have to work hard to survive. However, the effort will be worth it, as your knowledge will be much higher than graduates from other IITs. It is essential to note that exceptions exist. In conclusion, if you get the opportunity to study at IITM's ICS group, it is strongly recommended that you take it. Not taking advantage of this chance may lead to regret later on.Read more

Ans. You will definitely get exposure in both colleges if you are looking forward to pursuing MS in Research in Electrical Engineering. But to be very honest, to pursue the program from these colleges, you must be well prepared to handle things on your own. Because here, you have to do almost everything by yourself. From setting advanced labs along with the professors to studying everything. Here, you will get a limited number of peers. The faculties or professors themselves are new and in the phase of learning. Many of the researchers are satisfied with the culture at these institutes. The reason for this may be easy access to the mentors. At both these colleges, you will get both types of mentors. Some of them are very helpful and some can make your life hell.Read more

Ques. What's the placement scenario for M.Tech EE guys in IIT Roorkee?

● Top Answer By Rishabh Luthra on 13 Apr 23

Ans. Honestly speaking, the placement scenario for MTech is not very good. Except for CSE most students face issues during placements and end up becoming teachers in universities. The rare packages that are offered to the EE students at IIT Roorkee are also very small around INR 6 LPA.  However, there are a few top MNCs like Google, Oracle, Practo, Intel, InMobi, etc. that open job profiles for everyone in general, and instead of considering your branch or program, they look for the skills and capabilities of the individuals.  One needs to invest extra time and effort to secure packages around INR 25 LPA. Most IT companies offer such packages and not many are aware of this and give in to low packages. You need to prepare well for the interview beforehand. Here are a few ways you can ace your interview and grab a good package and role. Right from the beginning, start learning at least one programming language. Master either Java or C++ and also understand the basics of other programming languages. Become proficient in Data Structures and Algorithms. Mastering Python is another way to clear the interview owing to the high demand of AI. Practice the learned programming language on the Hackerrank website. Some companies ask for your rank on this website to evaluate your programming skills. Now the question arises of how to inculcate these skills. Well, you need to befriend a good MTech CSE student who will guide you and provide you with the necessary resources. One can also purchase online courses from Udemy. It’s recommended that you finish learning these skills by the end of the first year only. Anyone who belongs to a branch apart from CSE needs to follow the above steps to ensure good packages and roles.Read more

Ques. Which is better: IIT Delhi Energy Studies or IIT Roorkee Systems and Control?

● Top Answer By Akriti Banerjee on 15 Apr 23

Ans. I am eligible to answer this question as my sister is a pass out from IIT Delhi, Energy Studies. According to her, the primary step is to determine what you want from your degree; is it a brand name you are after or do you want a better branch that offers quality MTech education? As far as Energy Studies are concerned, the career prospects from campus are bleak with only 1-2 students getting placed from the entire branch. This branch is suited for those who are preparing for IES IAS. This is because the workload is considerably less in comparison to other branches sparing you enough time to prepare. But if you are genuinely interested in pursuing a career in Energy Studies and subjects like renewable energy intrigue you, you can always go for off-campus opportunities which are in abundance. As far as Control System Engineering is concerned, you can find more job opportunities in the field for energy engineers than for a control system engineer. For either branch, the option of teaching as a job opportunity is always open and can be considered.Read more

Ques. How is the placement of an MTech (EE) at IIT Kharagpur?

● Top Answer By Atul Sharma on 27 Mar 23

Ans. No IIT has department-specific placements and usually open to all placements are done wherein companies allow students from different branches to sit for placements. There are only a handful of core companies that discriminate between students of their branch and other branches not letting them sit for placements. So MTech placements usually mean competing with a number of students from different branches for top companies like GE, Bosch, or Texas Instruments. Most visiting companies are software companies that allow students from most branches to participate.Read more
