Barasat Government College offers the Master of Arts (M.A.) course under one specialization, which is Bengali and the Master of Science (M.Sc.) course under 3 different specializations which are – Botany, Physics and Zoology.

Candidates who have are Holders of a Bachelor’s degree from a related field of study are eligible to apply for the respective M.A. and M.Sc. courses. Seats will be allotted based on academic merit from Bachelor’s degree and/or 10 + 2 studies and based on candidates’ performance in written test which will be conducted by the college.

For M.A. in Bengali, candidate securing better marks in Bengali at the 10 + 2 level will be given first preference.
For M.Sc. in Physics, candidate securing better marks in Mathematics general at undergraduate level will be given preference.
For M.Sc. in Botany and Zoology, candidates securing better marks in Chemistry General at undergraduate level will be given preference.
