- MA in Gender, Feminist & Women's Studies at York University is offered as a 1-year program.
- It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis only.
- The program is interdisciplinary – drawing widely from the humanities, social sciences, environmental studies, fine arts, education, and law – sensitive to diversity and universal in approach to both Canadian and global issues.
- One of its primary goals is to develop and apply a feminist analytical perspective to teaching and research on women and gender as they intersect with sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, ability, and age.
- It encourages research projects that encompass more than one area.
- The program draws widely from the humanities, social sciences, health, environmental studies, fine arts, education, and law.
- The MA program consists of 9 credits.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a 4-year undergraduate degree in Gender, Feminist & Women's Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- An undergraduate grade point average of 3.33 (B+ average) out of 4.0 from accredited institutions is required for unconditional admission.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- An undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (B average) out of 4.0 from accredited institutions is required for unconditional admission.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
- Sample of academic writing: No more than 30 pages, examples include seminar paper, a chapter from MA thesis, undergraduate essay, published article, work-related report or proposal
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
